  1. . Hi all I returned to the river today thinking things may be harder after the weekend onslaught but how wrong can you be. Fishing a new swim, classic Mr Crabtree I could not believe It could happen again. From one small river and even smaller swim I caught 14 Chub all in the 3lb to 4lb range. Tactics was alternating between freelined bread and cubes of meet. I must have caught every fish in the swim. The pike however where taking the micky, following my lures kissing them and throwing them back. They must have heard of Rex Hunt. Tradman. (Centepins are for the few)
  2. The river Wyre controlled by Warrington Anglers. Been back today for the pike but they were not having it. Loads of follows(I was lure fishing) But they just would not strike. Will try again with wobbled dead baits. Tradman.
  3. I had a red letter day on my local river. 12 Chub to 5lb 2oz my pb for this river. 11 caught on floating bread and one on meat. I got 8 Chub from one swim when a Pike grabbed my 9th and the swim went dead. Going bak for the pike on Monday.
  4. Made an impulse buy today. Not exactly what I wanted but only cost me £50. I am now the owner of a new Shimano super ultegra light feeder. Does any one know more about this rod, reccomende line and casting weight say? Tradman
  5. I may have to settle on a new avon quiver system or a tfg whisper river and stream. I think I'm a tackle tart? Tradman [ 11. October 2005, 09:38 PM: Message edited by: tradman ]
  6. Thanks Chris. I,m got my mind set on 11ft. I have a 12'6" Preston Sentient and I find it just too long for my Indian style Chubbing. What is the 10' 6" rod like, line rating, make, tips etc. Does it have a screw reel seat and cork or duplon grips? Pikerboy
  7. I'm looking for a quiver rod for small river Chub fishing. I am after a rod simalar to the old style John Wilson avon quiver after I now regret selling mine. I am looking for an 11 footer with either fixed 2oz quiver or multi as long as the rod breaks down into 2 equal sections when the quiver is fitted. I missed out on a tfg river & stream but somthing a long those lines. I have £50 put aside for this rod can anyone help? Pikerboy
  8. Nothing to do with actualy fishing baitrunner style, its to do with saving my rods. I tend to fish 2 rods so if I get a fish on one rod I put thr other in free spool that way if I do get s second fish my second rod does not get pulled in. Also I will be using the reel for carp, Tench, Pike and Bream. Tradman.
  9. Hi all, I'm in the market for a new bait runner reel in the 5000 size. The 2 that are top of my list at the moment are the Shimano 5000b gte and the Okuma epix pro. Shimano had a very good reputation but I have read mixed reviews on the new 5000b gte. I do not know much about the Okuma except it come with a 5 year guarantee. I would apprieciate any views or suggestion etc. The reel wil be primarily used for Barbel fishing so will need to be strong and reliable as hopefully I will be playing some good fish in strong flows. It should be capable of casting 2 - 4 oz leads alll day. The gears need to be strong and not fall apart. Thanks. Tradman.
  10. Whey hey I did it. Thanks all for help. Tradman.
