  3. You hit it on the head Big Cod/GlennK
  4. This Morning before I left for work I was doing my usuak thing watching the News, and there was a headline which I caught on my way out of the door about conservationists kicking up a stink about the commercial sector....If anyone was watching and could fill me in on the full story it would be appreciated. VMT Phil Found it, it is on http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/4996268.stm If that does not take you there then it is on the bbc new website in the international news column. Phil
  5. BINATONE YOU SAY YOU ARE A MAN SOUND WITH THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE, WELL WHY DO YOU SPELL STAIRS INCOORECT ALL THE TIME BY SPELLING 'STARES'. ONE FOR THE BOOK I THINK!!
  6. Binatone, why are you telling big Cod to get a new boat and that he should get a boat suitable for anglers, I think you will find that the class of BID COD's boat is being built everyday for charter skippers around the globe, and as paul said there have been lifeboats built with the same hull of that of pauls boat, so wind your neck in Binatone....it is you that does not know the facts this time Binatone...same old, same old
  7. Not that I care much of commercial fisherman....especially MR Binatone. But does anyone else think in the same frame of mind as me that as there are being more fish farms built to produce not just cod but lots of species that are now scarce. Soon there will be so many that prices for fisherman's catches will dip as the major fish suppliers around the country will start to do the same as the supermarkets instead of using the markets will buy from the conveyor belt of the fish farms and in turn the demand for fish on the quays will go down and so then will the prices...which will of course effect the commercial sector, but hey this is ANGLERS NET, not COMMERCIAL NET.
  8. Binatone! - atre you saying that big cod's boat is not suitable for carrying passengers.......well the authorities that pass a vessell fit to carry passengers must not think that or he wouldn't be able to take anglers would he. Also let me say this, I have sailed omn ships bigger than your small trawler that you slogg your guts out on and I can tell you this size does not mean stability!!! 9. Welcome to the Forum 'Drake of Plymouth'. I now live in Plymouth, however from Whitby and have not had much chance to have much of a dabble down here. However I have a few contacts from the Armed Forces Fishing team who know the area very well so may be able to help you after I have had a word with them. With the little knowledge I have of the area mate I know that there is good sport to be had.....but it depends what you want to fish for......You have not said what you are wanting to catch because with the water slowly getting warmer down here, in the the next six months the Makeral fishing should perk up and there s good sport to be had there.....But as I said I am a beginner to this area, but have fished along the Yorkshire Coast since I was a lad and so am not sure where the best spots are. However I will keep you posted. Tight Lines PK
  10. Sam at the end of the day Sea Angler will print anything.....as it seems that they are starting to go down the Pan....and rightly so too....All you see is advertising!!! Bring on Total Sea Fishing thats what I say, it's a much better read anyway. PK
  11. One of the worsed things has to be the smell of rotten bait on the boat from the previous days where the boat has not been properly washed down.

    Whitby's East Pier

I've never known anyone to contradict themselves so much!!!! Binatone the wors 'GO and see a doctor your losing your marbles' come to mind!!!!!!
  13. Binatone Here is a question for you! JB is one of the most successful skippers along the east coast and has fished many wrecks along the east coast very successfully...without the aid of a expensive sonar. As you seem to get on with him well I think JB should voice his opinion on this matter as I think this subject was turning into an argument between yourself and BIGCOD. I think we need another opinion from another charter skipper. I am sure that he will agree with me that after being a charter skipper for so many years and all the experience that he has he can confirm to you that it takes more skill to put a boat onto a wreck on whichever part of the wreck he pleases takes much more skill tha looking at an overpriced screen........... As for the quote from you about 'losing gear' how do you think the handful of Whitby Netting boats in years gone by hit the wrecks with such precision??? This was with the aid of a couple of things, GPS or Navstar how it was a few years ago, but more importantly knowledge and that word EXPERIENCE!! Now you may have towed a trawl a few miles in your time....where is the skill in that my friend??? Regards Wtr2

very well done to my old man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he always seems to do it, I hope the bloke that got the winning fish got a few rounds in the fleece.....well done
  15. Signed up. If this site is banned, where are they going to dump the waste next???? It will have to go somewhere. I totally agree that the Bays are wonderful places I live in Plymouth and visit them quite often in the summer, It would be a great shame to see them get even more polluted, but will the government listen, afterall they have to pay to upkeep the Tamar for all the Naval and Private vessels here. I wish there was a simple answer to all of this.
  16. Good morning my old mate. This site is turning into a slagging match isnt it!!!! Well its all good fun I thinkm it is not as if anyone is offending their best friends or anything. I hope the rest of you feel the same, you must read some of these posts and have a proper giggle.....lol!
  17. And that is coming from the South Yorkshire Poof's!! As I know you like being called!!!!! Oh Bless!!!! We're all normal to the north. !

    Get Ready Now

pork pie has worked in the past!!!!! lol I have been on my fathers charter boat and seen a party of lads jokingly put a piece of pork pie on their hook......and you would never believe it, but they caught a codling. Anything works if the fish are frenzy feeding, but the crisis now is that there is not enough fish to feed like that......or am I wrong??!!??
  19. Oh well......just to let you know big_cod we are nearly back now, just 200 miles to steam. We are taking it very slow at the moment.....just 6 knots. The see is like a mirror.......but the sky is black.....something is going on...looks like another weather front on its way in.
  20. Sewer hole......thats all from me. Winter you know where I am on about....thats the place for me at RHB.
  21. He always does.......it must be that monster sea weed again.......or a big rock fish ha ha
