  1. but if they were rock hard, doesn't that mean they would have lost a certain amount of smell, so the fish wouldnt be able to find them as easily? [ 17. August 2005, 06:02 PM: Message edited by: fantasticfisherman ]
  2. exactly right mate. its not just that, but the people i do know thinks it's a just a chance to get the ol' cans of fosters out. i myself do like lagers/bitters and i don't drink much at all, just at people's birthdays and christmas, but there is a time and a place for that sort of thing, and i don't agree with it while fishing. 3. welcome mc carp, there are lots of different people on here who can help with lots of different things should you have a problem
  4. my most memorable fish was my pb carp of 21lb 8oz which took me nearly 2 hours to get in on 10lb line! then it headbutted me when i went to pick it up!
  5. im 15 and i don't feel safe anymore apart from winter fishing when it is too cold for those types of people
  6. i once caught one on floatfished worm, although thats not as unusual as cheesepaste
  7. when i've seen chub in the shallows, i have tried tempting them with maggots but they don't want to know until i put a boilie in front of their noses
  8. if i was to make my own, would i be able to freeze them? how long would they last out of the freezer? or does that depend on the ingredients?
  9. what is the ideal length of rod to use with spinners and small to medium sized plugs?
  10. the way i catch chub in shallow water is to (almost) freeline a bright coloured, hair rigged boilie such as scopex or tutti-fruitti, with a single swan shot above a braided hooklength.
  11. flamin' hell, i would have s*** my pants if that happened to me! [ 16. August 2005, 02:12 PM: Message edited by: fantasticfisherman ]
  12. although i have no doubt that shelf lives will still work on some waters, i have more confidence in frozen ones because i havent had had much success with my shelf lives and all the shelf lives i have are over a few months old, thats why i asked
  13. dont worry i used a wire trace and the pike i caught was only 2lb. although as you say it would have been better if i did have the proper equipment for the job, which i do usually do.
  14. ok thanks everyone i'll shop around and see what i can find.
  15. what do you think? i've spoken to people who omly seem to be catching on frozen boilies due to them being fresh when they come out of the freezer, and we all know that shelf - lives harden as they are left open, so what do you think?
  16. judging by what andy has said, i think i'll leave the match rod at home then. however i do have a sort of all-round coarse fishing rod which is 10ft in length, would this be more adequate?
  17. yep, when i've been floatfishing with 4lb line and not caught anything, i've often stuck on a livebait to catch the pike that are putting the other fish off the feed. where i was fishing at the time, the pike only went up to about 4lb anyway so it wasnt much of a problem
  18. do you think using a 13ft float rod with a spinner for perch is ok? seeing as the rod isn't initially made for it. i wasn't thinking of using heavy plugs or anything, jsut small spinners
  19. my targets were... to get a pb barbel-done-2lb 8oz to get a perch on a spinner-done-caught 6 in one session! biggest 1lb 4oz. as for the 7lb barbel being a specimen theory.. for me it is!
  20. i dont really know much about catfish fishing, but i must admit i didnt know what to think/expect when i saw the name of this topic!
  21. i was watching that too and it definatly sounds like a good bait to try but i dont know about anywhere to fish in the N-W sorry
  22. i was watching that too and it definatly sounds like a good bait to try but i dont know about anywhere to fish in the N-W
  23. IMO does it matter who shoots them, where and when? as long as they're dead. then they cant nick our fish
