funny thing is, i'm going fishing (whilst on holiday) in a weeks time aswell.where i'm staying also has lodges, and carp lakes with carp to 30lb. spooky ghost . so i'll be taking note of all the ideas too

is there any particular flavour boilie that is good in winter?

the weirpool i mention is always under alot of pressure from anglers especially in summer but also in winter alot of meat, cheese and bread is used there and wondered if there was any more 'up to date' baits like boilies and pellets(apart from the ones argyll mentioned) that might work, and if so, which flavours work for you lot?

the weirpool i am aiming to fish this winter isn't the easiest to fish, but i'm guessing that all weirpools are like that. it's not easy to get a spot there in the summer because of people swimming in it which isn't the smartest thing to do. there are lots of big fish in there - i.e chub and barbel but they are few and far between because, as i have already mentioned it is not easy. although i don't know why that is, thats just the way it is and i would really like to catch a big chub from there this coming winter. so any comments would be greatly recieved, like which rigs/bait work for you alongside fish location.

thaks for the info argyll. there are slack areas of water on both sides of the river with a couple of overhanging trees. you are saying these are the best places to fish?

i know winter is a good time for chub fishing and weirpools are good in summer, but do you think it is worth going for chub in weirpools in the winter? i would have thought weirpools were colder in winter obviously because it is colder, but also because of the constant fast flow of water, what do you think?

having a camera inside a lure would make very exciting viewing, but isn't there the possibility of the camera becoming damaged from pike taking the lure? they can take quite furiously,as i'm sure you all know

you can get alot of golden tench in almost any garden centre/aquaruim place that you go to. the one i had was a green tench. also gudgeon can be hell trying to keep them well oxygenated in a tank. i know it happened to me. they died [ 04. i have tench and two mirror carp in my tank(well i DID have a tench in my tank but it died)

you could use one of those sleeves that you put over the swivel on the hooklength, that acts so it pushes the hooklength away from lead and clip(if you know what i mean)
