No worries. There's nowhere really to get bait in Eyemouth, bar fresh mackerel at the fish merchants. Berwick is ten mins away in an emergency, but you should find that your lures do the job most days.

Below the caravan park there are some good marks. Hairy Ness is among the best. Heading south, there are any number of decent marks on the rocks below the golf course. You can't fail to find a decent spot, basically, regardless of the height of the tide.

Which boat Rob? Went out Thursday on North Star for 4 hrs, 2 codling, 3 macky, eight litlle coley and a scorpion fish. Slow at the moment

I know that digging at Holy Island sands was banned years back, also at Burnmouth. Can you still dig at Spittal? Also, when I was last at Holy Island (five years ago or more) there were countless mussels of a decent size underneath the road wherever it was raised. Anyone know if these are ok to snaffle for fishing?

How much are you looking at for an average model with these? I've used a rowing boat before now, with oars and a tiny outboard, which will only take two. May one day look at these

I know its very hard to defend fishing while being anti-shooting, but there are a few of us about. I gave up coarse fishing at an early age as I realised the cruelty involved in catching simply for sport - I rarely fish in the sea, and then I only fish to catch 'keepers' for food. At the same time, though, I can see that I also do so for sport and enjoyment, and that there is hypocrisy there. I see the inconsistency in my own position, and I don't really want to get into a protracted argument here. But can anyone really say that shooting and fishing aren't cruel? It's a messy situation, I know, and I have sypmathy for both sides.
