  1. I thought they were all illegal - there are spotter planes checking for them at low tides on the east coast at times
  2. Good luck - if you get any velvets, watch out when getting em out. All the rest back away, cling to a corner maybe, velvets can come at you all guns blazing

    kentangler, stop being a gimp.
  4. I use about six every summer in Scotland for a week, but simply take them to the very point of low tide among the kelp, and leave them there, rather than use a boat. Last year got maybe five lobsters, 30 velvets, innumerable shore crabs and a 2lb wrasse. I use whatever bait I can catch myself - usually coley, mackerel, wrasse and dab. Find the rottener the better to be honest. Whoever said use cormorant - do you, perchance, have an illegal salmon net? Or are you an expert in coming across freshly cormorant?
  5. Well, push him for Burnmouth, it's great. There's a guy writing a book on the shore fishing in the area, by the name of David Storey, but I don't know if it will be out by September
  6. There's flatties and small pollack inside the harbour if you try the wooden jetty. Locals talk of skate etc off the breakwater, but only ever got dogs
  7. The skipper is called Alastair, the boat the Village Belle. I have a contact number if anyone wants it. I'm from the Midlands, but regularly stay in Burnmouth during the summer. I've fished the harbour countless times, and been out in boats now and again, but would like to try to take up shore fishing in the area. I was hoping somebody might give me some tips on tackle/marks/techniques, if you don't mind. I've walked to Eyemouth a fair few times, and there seems to be some deep water on the way when the tide's in, but I've never once seen anyone fishing, other than right by Eyemouth or in the harbour at Burnmouth. Snatcher - you mention a mark by a small shingle cove - there's several of those near the golf course. How small? As far South as Hurkur's or nearer Eyemouth? Any conversation on fishing the area would be gratefully received. Andy PS Sarah - did you go with the cottage? If so, which one? An uncle owns one of them
