  1. I invited you to open a new thread so that you could enlighten us Nick! If that format means so much to you ,what is stopping you? And what about your "comment" then Davt R? was that unnecessarily rude?
  2. Alan Stubbs In your experience!! you had a bad gig with an angling coach and you tar the whole lot with the same brush! it simply is not true angling coaches are only interested with match angling and match anglers, I will make you a promise ,if you send me the details of your fishing beat , I will endeavor to contact a good all round coach in your area , so you can quiz him/her as to the benefits , now I cannot be fairer than that! As for inflammatory remarks aimed at me, bring it on, I can more than handle the snidey few that inhabit the internet, my point is ,when I have a go back some of you cannot take it., I held back yesterday but still flattened Wordbender (wheres my apology?) laid out Jeepster, embarrassed Davy R, need I go on? I raised a very important issue yesterday, and it got sidelined into an onslaught directed at me.. this thread is going the same way, I can see a pattern emerging and I repeat ,I have received loads of PM'S from former posters on this forum, that have been "set upon" by a select few much in the same way I was/am ...... they no longer post on here......don't you think there is something drastically wrong with that?
  3. In case it escaped you Davy R, I do like to drive home a valid point. You have proven me correct yet again Jeepster, it is futile.
  4. Gozzer ,well now is his chance, I felt the same way, hence me raising this issue again, I am very interested in his side of things, afterall he was present that day, we were not! Just for you Jeepster, have a little read of this, posted yesterday on another forum, I hope this makes you and one or two others think, although I already feel it is futile. Hiya, OK my 2p worth since I seem to have been involved in most of the goings on on the Sea forum I agree with Nick and cranfield, it's sad to see the forums in the state that they are in. I stopped posting a while back due to the constant sniping from certain individuals. Nick persuaded me to post again at the new year and within a few posts I had the same idiots with the same comments... so I went back to lurking. The problem now is there is a small group, who are now close to Elton that think they know everything there is to know about angling and no one else has or is allowed an opinion, I'm surprised with these ego's being as big as they are there is enough room for them on the forum and god help any one that proves them wrong While these individuals are about and are given the preferential treatment that they have been in the past, Anglers Net will continue to go steadily downhill.. which is I think really sad
  5. It hardly mattered Argyll as the thread was deleted, although at the time there were no howls of protest, from fellow posters or any moderators. Anderoo, I am talking specifically deep hooked fish here, not the ones hooked properly.
  6. Anderoo, To be precise then, You feel that poking around with a lump of plastic , when it is deep hooked is detrimental to a fish, I say you are correct. You say in those circumstances you knock it on the head and use it for other purposes, I say fine, that is your right to do so. I am asking why you do not consider cutting the line as near as is possible ,leaving the hook in and releasing the fish with a fighting chance of survival? At least cutting the line the fish has some chance to live, your way they ALWAYS die. That was not so strange a question afterall, was it?
  7. Nick , I am happy with my opening questions toward FT, but please feel free to start a new post in the manner you outlined. Argyll, with respect ,yesterday I was asked about and posted my angling criteria for all to see, I cannot see a problem asking about FT's! Anderoo, Why do you feel a deep hooked fish should be killed every time? jimpo, "There are far to many [so called anglers] who try to keep the hobby to themselves secret waters baits tactics and denounce anybody else's attempts to join in this is why the anti's will always win because most peoples attitudes are stuff you im alright and the cliques and buddy clubs on many forums close ranks and shut down outside voices" I was victim to that very thing yesterday on here, and judging by the amount of sympathetic and supportive Pm's I received throughout the course of the "Debate" there are a great deal more former posters on here that ,sadly, now refrain from posting and only "view" the proceedings for fear of the mob descending on them, that is not debate in my opinion, it is intimidation ,and those responsible should take a good long, hard look at themselves.
  8. Yes Brian you are correct, but that is now in the past, I want to concentrate on how experienced anglers can fish for any given length of time and still not know a few ,simple basic procedures regarding deep hooked fish and their welfare, I was ( and still am) deeply shocked by some of the advice given yesterday and have come to realise this problem is much bigger and more widespread than I imagined, i am not on a witch hunt however, but I feel very strongly indeed this needs to be discussed in the open for others to learn from, I put a lot of peoples noses out of joint yesterday with my brash and abrasive tone and the "debate" centered around that instead of the real, very worrying issue of fish handling and care, regards Bob.
  9. An open question for all the other posters to read; Flying Tench, we have never met to my knowledge, nor do we have any past history on this site or any other, yesterday you will have been well aware that I expressed my disgust on here about the way you killed a deep hooked quality Perch, I was led to believe by your fellow posters on here that you are an experienced angler and a good man, so with that in mind would you do me the simple courtesy of answering a few question please? 1, How long have you been an angler? 2,What implement do you use to disgorge fish? 3,Do you catch many fish, and are they specimens? 4,What did you do with the dead Perch? 5, Have you learned anything from yesterdays debate? 6, In your opinion ,how did the Perch become so deep hooked? Thank you in advance, John? As to some of the rest of you, I would expect for you to keep your opinions and snidey comments about me restricted to PM'S to each other ,do not try to contact me, unless you have something constructive to say, regards Bob.
  10. Cheers Hermes, and enjoy your stay in Norfolk mate.
  11. Well! I didn't! I am genuinly interested who you fished for, I know we have digressed somewhat but it intriques me, please tell more!
  12. Surely we could afford to lose a few Pike anglers? he he. What country have you represented in the World Champs series and what is that,? I must confess I have never heard of it Hermes. In match fishing ,we have the World club championship, England's Representative are always the previous years 1st Division National champions, there are the European team championships, England always do very well in that, and of course the World championships, where England have reigned supreme for over 2 decades.
  13. Good luck to you Hermes, and I hope you have a wonderful time, I do not aim this at you, but over the years I have seen some shocking activity's by visiting "anglers" to the very beautiful Broads, these people are not really anglers ,more like holiday makers that decide they want to "have a go", who could blame them? There is a huge holiday industry involving many millions of pounds sterling, lots of advertising inviting people to enjoy the wonderful natural vastness of it all, unfortunately a minority of visitors use the Broads to dump their crap, abuse the wildlife and act like complete moron's with a total disregard for the locals. My views may well be tainted and cynical, but I speak from what I know and see, regards Bob.
  14. As I have already stated, and you know anyway Peter, I have not fished for Pike in my time as an angler (match angler), but I know enough about a top line predator like the Pike to know ,despite they are large, even scary creatures to some, they are in fact a very delicate fish, that require good handling skills backed up with a great deal of knowledge, this is the very reason I choose NOT to fish for them, I am very experienced in handling lots of fish under match conditions, and if I say so myself, I am very good at unhooking and carefully placing large numbers of fish into my keepnet, to be returned in a couple of hours unharmed and none the worse for wear, you and I know this is not always the case with some match anglers, and it is logical this is not always the case with some Pike anglers, What can we do to change this? answers on a postcard.
  15. I was chatting to an old boy in Potter Heigham last week, he was preparing his small boat to go Pike fishing the following day with his son, he was outside one of the holiday bungalows he had hired on Herbert Woods marina, near to the infamous wetsheds, he told me he had been staying there since before Christmas with his wife, he went on to tell me they had both been regularly visiting Norfolk since the early 60s! of course he reflected on how things had changed in that time, how the fishing was not so good, but how he wasn't so much bothered if he caught or not, he just loves getting out there while he still has breath in his body and the good health to do it! He finished our conversation by stating he thought there are too many Pike anglers after too few Pike in Norfolk, I could not comment, as I do not fish for Pike. I do not write this to put you off in any way Hermes, rather just to inform you on what you may encounter, regards Bob.
  16. Apparently, he asked for ..a gottle of gear... I'll get my coat.
  17. I must just state that no one person has been the reason for me deleting my own posts, more of a collective effort I think! thank you for your kind comments, bob.
  18. I apologise for my "Blunderbuss" approach and have edited my earlier posts, I will not be participating in any further discussions regarding this issue,as it is quite clear I have no idea what I am talking about, I hope no-one has taken offence and thank you for your patience, I am an open match angler that knows very little of the other aspects of our wonderful sport/pastime, I realised by re-reading my comments I am in error on a number of points and please accept my apology's, i am truly embarrassed by the whole issue,Bob.
  19. Fakenham! The only place in the UK where it is so small, the Mayor and the Village Idiot are the same person! Norwich is not too far, you will enjoy that wonderful city, a nice mix of new and old, pretty clean too ,well,by UK standards !
  20. The thing about organisations Peter.
  21. Brian, There are many other incidents occurring .
  22. Peter, I will try to get onto Keith's Radio program "Fishermen's Blues" tomorrow (Sunday between 6am and 8am on Medium Wave 1053/1089) I will raise this thorney subject with him and see what response it achieves.
  23. Thanks for the info trent. barbeler, if that is fact ,that explains that one. Gozzer, As you will be aware , in the Herbert woods boatyard at Potter Heigham, there are 3 huge wetsheds
