Are you sure the bubbles were from Tench and not your Grounbait some active mixes send little bubbles up to the top? Ricky

Rake the swim every day for 3 days and fish the day after use Maggot, caster or corn on the hook with Expo Groundbait with Brown Crumb mixed 60/40 and add Pellets(mixed sizes), Diced Luncheon meat whch you do in a food processor, Corn, Casters, Hemp and Maggots. If this fails mashed bread is good, the loaf soaked in water until soft and squezzable in your hand and add Casters and Hemp. Ricky

There is no way to get round it other than using pop-up boilies that lie just above the weed although I can only how much tackle and fish you'd lose if you hook one in the weed. Just fish it and be prepared to lose tackle that's all you can do, sorry I couldn't help more. Ricky

Chub are very curious fish usually responding to a splash on the water investigating a source of food like an insect hitting the water, usuallly this will happen in the summer when the Chub are usually ravernous in their intentions and feeding can be only described as a feeding frenzy at times. The Chub are very wary also and usually you have to be very careful when treading on the bank. The Dorset Stour is reknowned for big Chub and Barbel and my advice would be to locate the fish before you fish for them. Due to the water being Clear and very Low at this time of the year particularly, my way would be to stalk the fish trying various places, (Easier if you can see them)keeping well back from the bank and freelining a Lobworm can be a KILLER for Chub. Locating the Chub and seeing where the Chub feed is ultimately the way to go and a great weapon in the stalkers armoury in catching that 5 or 6 pounder. Feed a few Lobworm pieces and move on to fish another swim and then return to the swim you baited up (best if you have 4 or 5 of these spots, catching 2 or 3 fish then move on as Chub are a shoal fish which tend to group up tightly and they become wise and get spooked when fish are taken out of that group) later but keeping well back and dropping a Lobworm to them. I have lost count of how many Chub I have caught fishing in this way. Places to look for Chub are Long glides, undercut banks, overhanging trees, far bank bushes or any other far bank cover, in between streamer weed, eddies or any place that there is a change of flow caused by a obstruction or what is commonly known as a 'Crease', will all hold fish . Thanks mate do you think that just having a morning to feed it up and returning about 8 hours later is enough because people have said that baiting it on the morning of the I intend to night fish would fill the fish up by the time that I get there, do you think this is true? Thanks Jeepster how much would you suggest to prebait with? I was thinking of Brown crumb mixed with Leam or lean to bind it solid as the place I am fishing has a fast current for the Bream and Hemp, corn and some pellets for the Barbel but how much in quantity? Ricky

Thank you anyone else who can offer me a cheap way to do this

I plan to fish on my local River Trent in July for Barbel on a stretch that is noted for a lot being there. There is also a lot of Bream and Carp in this stretch and was wondering what you all thought of prebaiting. I was thinking of arriving early in the morning of the night I will be night fishing and prebaiting for the Barbel and the Bream if the Barbel doesn't work out. If you think this would be a good idea what bait would you suggest I do this with, preferably cheap bait as I don't want to be spending the earth doing this? Advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance for any help received. Ricky
