  1. Hi Rob, The pic works fine, there are ways to get a bigger pic on-if you search related posts it should become clear. That apron looks perfect for that use but I imagine would also be good as a stripping basket when fly fishing from a yak. Thanks for posting, Jon.
  2. "The easy answer to your question is what's the f ......has it got to do with you" That's not really what I would class as a considered or intelligent response. I want to know if someone puts up a post and enthuses about a product have they received anything from the supplier. If they have been told to keep e.g the kayak then how can that be an independant review? and if it's not an independant review then we should be told as much. Receiving replacement handles is good after sales service and not what I was referring to.
  3. I think this raises an issue which I have been brooding over for a while. The issue of Transparency. I used to be quite active when this forum was in it's early stages but decided to take a much quieter profile as it got more popular. Please forgive me if I ask a question that might have been dealt with at length previously but I admit to just "dropping in" to the forum now and again. The question is- Do we know how many of the regular contributors on this Forum have received payment or goods for promotion of one or more companies? For example:Most of us know that Simon E is involved with a certain South African manufacturer BUT he has made this very clear or transparent .What worries me is the "My review of....." and the person involved has received goods as an incentive but that is not obviously known to other viewers of the forum. I see now that some regular posters sign at the bottom of the post that they are part of a team, which is commendable and hopefully transparent..if the reader scrolls through and digests the small print after the post. So ... Who on this forum has received anything more or equal to a paddle from a kayak or kayak accessory retailer?
  4. http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/Salcomb...l&hl=plaice Hi ,If the link works this a report from Yaskalos who used to post on here. Cheers Jon If not just use the search function keying in his name and south sands report. Also there is a report that Simon and I did about fishing for plaice from Beesands. If I get time I'll search for that too,got to go to work now!
  5. Don't talk to me about bloody newts! I've got the balance wrong in my pond and they(palmate) queue up to munch the tadpoles when they're just big enough to leave the jelly.None make it to frogs. I'm going to have to dig another pond
  6. Hi Terry, A voice from the past! Hope all's well with you and family and France is still as enjoyable. You are in a good position to comment on Malibu II's.I recall you bought a second hand one on October 13th 2005, Cheers Jon.
  7. Boomphat. That's not an option.I'm serious about taking him with me fishing and he's too young to go as far as I do.It would just be the same as with the caper. Simon, Thanks for the reply I've sent that chap a message, cheers Jon.
  8. Hi all, I bought a caper a while ago so that members of the family might accompany me on my trusty prowler. In all honesty it hasn't seen much use so I got to thinking maybe a tandem would be more popular. Some of the most enjoyable fishing trips last year were with my eight year old son sitting behind me (apart from when I heard him snoring!) and that has got me thinking of a Malibu XL. I've trolled through the posts but there's nothing recent and I wondered has anyone out there used this kayak. It would solely be for tandem use. I look forward to any replies, Cheers Jon.
  9. What a great report Mark.It must take ages to put them together. Sounded like a special day, Jon.
  10. You're on your own mate!! http://magicseaweed.com/Sennen-Gwenvor-Surf-Report/4/ A merry Christmas to all.
  11. Well done lads. Out of interest, how good an account do these Pike give once hooked? Jon.
  12. What about this drogue too ?: http://www.h2okayaks.com/unitrader/shop/product/121 This company could prove to be very useful
  13. Was that from the Kayak or the shore Codshead? Or did you just land to take the photo? http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/Mullet-...den+grey+mullet
  14. Talk about hi-jacking a thread!!
  15. Thanks for the reply HM, It was Borderman not I, that caught it on a small piece of slow retrieved rag.
  16. Martin(Borderman)and I had another go for mullet yesterday.Gorgeous weather and Martin landed his first mullet : I was wondering if this was a golden grey as it has the cheek mark but also(unlike the last three thin lips) was very slimey which is meant to be a sign. well done Martin-thick lips next!
  17. Lovely spot when the weathers right. Well done on C&R, cheers Jon.
  18. Cheers GB, yep I've deliberately targetted thinlips but the thick lips are on the to do list.Different tactics and the seaons fast closing. BristolLes-there have been many theories regarding the demise of the humble flounder.Pot bait indeed being one when commercials have stumbled across spawning grounds but some other interesting ideas; including farmland fertilizer run off into the estuaries causing the males to become infertile!! Whatever the reason it's a disaster and had it been a more "sexy" fish then perhaps something would have been done before now? cheers Jon
  19. Well not quite, but following on from my successful mullet trip I decided on a trip to the Dart and see if that last one was a fluke. Baited up with small rag set very shallow and waited.Soon came a lovely rattling bite but this time it zoomed into deeper water and kept diving? Not a Mullet but a very welcome plump flounder. These have been very scarce around here so a quick photo and back he plopped: I did hook up with three mullet and managed to land two.The last one was hooked in about 15" water and took off as I can only imagine a bonefish would, taking line for what seemed like ages and towing the kayak along this beautiful Devon River.: A nice fish indeed,I just wish I started earlier! Jon.
  20. Hi all, I started today feeling more than a little pee'd off as I couldn't join Borderman on a coastal trip due to family commitments. Second best choice, once I was free, was to grab some rag and head off to the estuary and see if I could get that ever elusive mullet. Well after the second of three little bass had been put back over the side I had another bite on the little scrap of rag and although I could tell it wasn't a big fish it still fought harder and longer than the previous fish. You can imagine my delight when I finally got this little chap on board.I believe it is a thin lipped grey, can anyone confirm this and has any one else had one yet? Cheers Jon.
  21. Very true Mark, But the local fishing news reported a successful daytime event baised on congers from Brixham Breakwater. Apparently these "favourite de Richi" try and stock up now for the cold months ahead and can be targetted during daylight hours(as proved by one of our members on a trip from salcombe a couple of years ago) So hopefully there will be something new and of interest to post very soon! Cheers Jon.

I'm afraid getting the video clip available is beyond my limited it skills GB,it's all over very quickly anyway. I really liked the three stills as a sequence, might get them framed up and on the bathroom wall!
