  4. on a local lake near me its rare to see a twenty pound carp come out and even more so for a 30 to come out but i hooked one of the 30's last year on a pop up on the surface 12lb mainline i had and size 6 hook and 15 lb braid so the chances looked good of me catching it right? wrong. it steamed of into the lillies almost 40 yards away and snapped me of in the lillies i reeled in checked my clutch and i could barely pull it out myself so this fish had some immense power! but i do see it quite often its just getting it to take the bait its very spooky
  5. hi all, been out on my new boat a few times now and i love it! its very reliable and fast! ive caught over 100 mackeral ,most of which were put back as im big into the catch and release scene, 8 dogfish, 1 smoothound and about 30 bass none of there fish were of any sizes as we are after a few of the smaller fish at the moment just to get use to it we are going out by a mark called dean tail soon we have been there before (which is were i had the dogfish and smoothound) and we will try for a few bigger fish. there has only been one minor disaster if any1 owns a boat or anything around the eastney harbour area they should no what im talking about and that is the HUGE sandbank of hayling beach that is impossible to miss... but we stilll managed to go into it and had to wait 3 hours untill high tide to get out but luckily we thought of somthing diffrent and got out of the boat and walked on the said and pushed the boat in to a bit deeper water where we could move again... a bit embarrasing seeing our boat club members fly pass but these things happen i guess ill keep you reported on how it goes. tight lines, jay

  9. Hi all, Im not sure whether i have mentioned her before but my nan was the most loving person in the world if there was a worm on the floor she would move it, if there was snails in her garden she would put them all in bags and take them to the forest and througout her life she had 4 dogs. she would come down to the local fishing lake in thundering conditions in winter and in boiling hot temperatures in summer to bring me over a bacon and egg roll and a drink to keep me going. she witnessed my first carp and inspired me every time i went fishing and to top all that off she got married 2 days before she died. she died off liver and asophagus cancer after a 4 year long battle . she was a wonderfull person and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. born 13.4.1940 died 7.4.2008. R.I.P nan Thank you for reading Jay

  13. hi all, I no its abit short notice but tommorow im going to the ledgendary bury hill fisheries. im hopefully going to be using my favourite method which is fishing the surface with bread flake but need to no how i can approach this? it ses on the website that you are only permitted to fish on swims/pegs provided but also ses on its map there are no swims in the jungle part of the old bury hill lake but you can fish there? so that confused me. also any tips and help would be appriciated as it is my first time there . tight lines, jay
  14. Hi all, im just wondering weather its worth having a little fish for the tench and bream on thursday? the weather has been nice for a few weeks now and the water is a little warmer then what it was before. im fishing a lake which is fished for carp allot of the time its not a carp lake but there is a few whackers in there. i fished this lake all spring sumer and autumn last year and im not a big fan of the rain so i tend to lay off a bit in the winter there is definatly lots of tench and bream in there bloody things all you catch when your fishing for carp which is why i think the method i might use is a scaled down version of the carp rig i use. but i need your opinion on what method you think i should use, what has been successful for you this time of year? tight lines, jay
  15. Your all right but for me the best thing about fishing is seeing that huge shadow appear under your bait on the surface and just turning and slowly coming towards your bait and all you see is a big back and the huge mouth opened out of the water engulfing your dogbiscuit or bread down and then steaming off into the weeds and taking the line off your reel with it. Can not beat it!
  16. ill type whats on the packet: Solar Tackle - Pure Bait - For the sharper carper - Contains belachan (fermented shrimp)
  17. Hi all I know this subject has probably been posted hundreds of times but its better to ask . i was wondering now that we have had a mild winter a few sunny days now and then maybe the fish are feeding more readily this winter? i have a new bait which i have yet to try but it looks really good because in most carp lakes the fish are getting used to the sight of circular boilies well this bait is all diffrent shapes and is a fishmeal shrimpy flavour it smells good (bad to me but good to the fish i think) and looks great i just wondering have any1 else used this bait? All replys welcome - Jay

  19. alrite mike, LOL dont get me started on my worst fishing moments aye? ive had so many you wouldnt believe it but i think the worst time was like the time on the bus (we wont go into that if you dont mind) and when i was seasick on southparade pier (sounds wierd but i think i was just sick im not sure) but i think my worst fishing memory was when me you connor and jay G went to eastney pier on what we thought was going to be an ALRIGHT day we were badly mistaken VERY strong winds tiping it down thunder and lightning and to top it all off we had to get the bus home not fun at all but we did all manage to catch fish ... i think connors black bream(s) were the highlite

  21. Hi all, im night fishing a lake next weekend called broadlands quite a well known lake just of the motorway. i have fished here before twice and have caught 1 fish each session with dog biscuit on surface both 10 pound. so due to the fact im goin night fishing i have a few questions. 1) what rig and bait would YOU use? i thought of carp pellets in a pva bag with a tutti fruity boilie dunked in dip on a running ledger hair rig and for the other rod same rig but trout and halibut boilies in pva bag and spicy shrimp and prawn boilie. 2) what would be the chances of getting a late surface carp if its sunny? 3) there are also big pike in there so i need to know how i would go about catchin them i can get live and dead bait not sure what type tho but i can buy them from the onsite tackle shop any help appreciated, tight lines jay

  23. HI mike, first of all i dont think a 3 lb carp is too big considering if you go to three oaks which is rite next to you we can catch allot bigger as me nd you both no but im sure thats just a typing errror second what janet has said is right in one respect but if i were using strawberry boilies it might be allot better to use strawberry pellets ( you can pick them up for £1.95 a kilo) this might help TIgHt LInEs! Jay
