  1. i have had a dunking up to my waist when the bank gave way under foot, but the best one was the father in law, he had packed away most of his gear, walked down the bank to get his bank stick, forgot about a small stump sticking up. he hit his foot on it and went head first into the lake, the rest of the anglers all gave him good marks for the dive.
  2. i have not been on the site for about 15 years (my uncle has a van there), i have never fished it but from what i remember there was always plenty of people fishing. tower vans jeff
  3. were in the uk would you prefer ? if down south you could try here - revels in dorset we have been there twice and had a good time both times, we are going again at the end of may. there is lots of smallish lake most have carp, bream, tench, etc. one of the top lakes has been stocked with pike and also has some large carp (so I'm told). if you stay in one of there caravans fishing is included on all but the catfish lake which can be rented for £30 for 24 hours, you can take your own caravan if you want but then you have to pay extra for the fishing. jeff
  4. now theres a idea 3 hooks on 2 rods = 6 fish at a time lol i have more than enough trouble fishing 2 rods with only 1 hook on each, we went to a carp puddle a few weeks back for a easy days fishing, it was a bit on the slow side so i fished 2 rods (it had been cold the night before) i had nothing for about 45 Min's then i had a bite on 1 rod, just as i started to reel in i had a bite on the other, and as luck would have it both fish headed for the same spot so i had no choice but to pick up the other rod. what i site i must have looked 1 rod in my right hand trying to lift and lower the rod to keep the line tight, the other rod held between my legs and winding and back winding to keep that line tight. the father in law could do nothing but laugh. i did manage to land both fish, then i put 1 rod on the bank for the rest of the day.
  5. i did a search for rigs on the net and could not find any so i presumed they were not aloud, even though i could not find any rules to say so
  6. hi all, its been a while since i asked one of my daft questions. just been watching fishing on tv and the guy did some fly fishing and sea fishing, while sea fishing he had multiple hooks, i already knew this setup but when he was fly fishing he had two hooks on the same line (i know nothing about fly fishing). so i was thinking is there any reasons or laws why we could not use a multi hook setup while course fishing, like one on the bottom and one mid water ?
  7. we have these in the fosse at lincoln. what would you class as a big one?
  8. they make good cheap weights when fishing snags / sea fishing off rocks
  9. if using shrimp / prawns would you use them in the shell or the frozen peeled ones ?
  10. the thing that annoys me on the TV interview is the fact that he says he put light pressure on it with his foot and using his forceps to unhook it he noticed its teeth. why the hell did he have his foot on it in the first place, the guy is a p**t and cannot handle fish in the proper manner. if i see him down the witham i think i will push him in for the snakehead to eat,
  11. this was in the lincoln echo -link to page what is this country coming to
  12. we have a chameleon that eats - meal worms wax worms crickets locusts in the summer i will be trading some of my maggots for all the above, i get to try new baits and the chameleon gets some flies. im the only fisherman i know that can keep some maggots in the living room
  13. i have kept worms alive for months in a large polystyrene box (used for transporting fish / frozen food for snakes) i just fill it with potato peelings raw veg etc. i put some worms in that i had bought from the shop and they looked better after a week in the box than when i bought them.
  14. Why are fish so smart? Because they live in schools. What lies at the bottom of the sea and shakes? A nervous wreck! you did say cheesey !
  15. i know what you are saying, and i agree with your point. if i was going for a pike session and had to buy bait i would buy fish / fish based bait. i was just trying to find a use for left over mice after feeding the snakes, must keep as much out of the landfill sites as we can.
  16. thanks john. i really must learn to proof read my posts this is the quote from their site. 17. yes you are quite right should read "Saturday 15th December 2007 at 10:00am" is their a way to alter the heading ?
  18. web site of group organizing protest thought this might be of interest to some on this site. jeff [Heading altered as requested - John S]
  19. i make a tin full the night before, that way it can blow as hard as it likes and i can still top up my nicotine.
  20. dont think i could bring myself to hook a live one.
  21. have been reading this thread with intrest as i like catching perch, but i have never managed to catch anything above about half a pound. when i put a large worm on i get bites but never manage to land any. what size worm / hook would you use on a canal ?
  22. if we ever get a big one die i will cook it and invite you round for tea, we could have corn snake and mouse kebab's on a more serious point i was thinking about making up some mouse kebabs like the fish pike kebabs the tackle shops are selling. feeding live nice is a bit of a grey area in law, you are only aloud to feed lives to snakes that will not eat deads, it is not legal to feed lives to snakes that will eat deads, also a live cornered mouse can do a lot of damage to a snake.
  23. first off a bit of background - the wife breeds snakes which eat nice, they range from pinkies to full grown. the nice are bought frozen and warmed up to feed to the snakes, if the snakes dont eat them they have to go in the bin. we also have frozen chicks. my lad likes pike fishing with dead baits (cannot use lives). could he use the left overs to fish with ? i dont like to put them in the bin has anybody used them before ?
  24. i must say that this forum has been a gold mine of information to me. i have some experience of pike fishing, mainly lure fishing and helping my lad unhooking when he gets in a bit of a mess. i have no problem handling pike, i did have all the gear (forceps, long handled thin nosed pliers, unhooking mat etc) until my lad lost some of it. if somebody could let me know what wire (brand, type etc) i will get some and set up a rig and test different types of knots and will even try soldering them.
