  1. but then you would not be able to reply for hours as you would be rolling around the floor laughing at how crap i am i dont catch many, but im learning and one day i will be good at this sport.
  2. Sounds like a Good day and a very nice write up, It would be nice if more people would do write ups. I have only been fishing for a few months and I could learn so much more if more people did this.
  3. If I do this it has to be done right. I do not want to harm any of the fish, after reading on the web that pike are in decline in our rivers. I cannot be breaking any laws, And I will be doing this with my two sons (15 and 12) and I am trying to teach them to do things the right way. I have spent the last week reading all I can find on the web about pike fishing.
  4. One problem I can see if lots of people send things to him privately he may end up with lots of rods and reel but no floats bank sticks etc. If people are going to send things could we not draw up a list and people put there name next to what they want to send. I would be willing to run the list if the mods want me to. I cannot send any tackle but would send him a queue for a few quid if we could find some way to get it to him
  5. agree that it wont work, IF we get involved we would only be fishing it say once a month catching one or two fish, I don’t think that is not going to make much impact on the population in a lake of this size but it would keep the people that run the reserve happy. And it would let us fish a lake that nobody is aloud to fish. The people that run it have had reports from people that claim to have seen pike taking the wild fowl. [ 10. 7. to be quite honest i dont think we would even be able to catch that many of the pike that are in there, the lake is over a mile around the edge path. it is the father in law that has be contacted by the reserve so i dont know what permissions are in place if any. perhaps we could talk them into letting us fish it and remove only ones over a certain size. any idea what size of pike would be able to take a duck size bird ?
  8. im hoping the stream links to the sailing lake as well as the reserve
  9. bought the rod on ebay this morning only had about 1 min to make up my mind so did not have time to ask anyone for advice, i was cheap so im not upset about it
  10. thought it would be ok in the stream as they could swim into it themself if they wanted to. will phone the EA and see what they say
  11. you are right i have never fish for pike, have only been fishing for a few months (course) father in law has fish for pike on and off for over 30 years. the people that run the nature reserve want the pike out of the lake as they have been seen taking the water foul that the reserve was set up for. it was fished by a pike club when it was set up about five or six years ago, not fished at all since. next to the reserve lake is a big sailing lake the reserve lake has a link to a small stream/drain, i am going to follow this and see if it joins to the sailing lake we could release them into the stream. if it does not i was planing on contacting the e/a and see if they could help out. i dont want to kill them and will do all that i can not to.
  12. if its a hollow needle with point at one end could you not push point in through mouth down inside fish and out at the tail thread wire down the needle then pull needle and wire out from the tail then tie on hook a swivel at each end.
  13. hi all, would this type of rod be any good for pike fishing? cat rod the reason i ask is we (father in law, my two lads and myself) have been asked to fish a local Nature Reserve for pike. (will post more details about lake etc in new thread). thanks jeff
  14. Lincoln Lincolnshire - lol Thanks for your help, been out and looked at some local ones. Just been on the phone to one just outside mablethorpe (1.5 miles) that sounds nice 6 lakes, tackle shop, bar etc. static vans round match lake, tourers round the carp lake. Going to have a look Wednesday, just found out I don’t have to work till Thursday so its fishing tomorrow and go look at site Wednesday.
  15. Can anyone recommend a caravan site within 200 ish miles of Lincoln? Must have on site fishing. Dog friendly. And must not be one of the sites that cram you in too close together. many thanks - jeff
  16. Just because something is an old design does not make it out of date, as far as I can tell the wheel has been around for a year or two, it started out stone and wood and is now rubber and metal but it has always been a wheel
  17. its not just the mail, one of the fishing programs on discovery chanal last week was showing how to cheat at match fishing, things like the eels in the tube, phone your mate from the peg draw and get him/her to pre bate your peg, tampering with the scales etc.
  18. could i please buy some of your lures, my two lads saw them and now want to have a go lure fishing.
  19. i had a pike the other day on magot, i was float fishing on the river witham, i had just cast in and felt a little pull just as my magot was sinking so i lifted my rod and the float pulled straight into some weed, i reeled in a large clump of weed, lifted line to clear weed from hook and a pike (about 10 inch) dropped at my feet my first pike. lol
  20. i have only been fishing for a few weeks and i would not be without mine, i have instructions that came with it, if you still need them i could take photos and post the on here
