Hello - do you mean the Porta Boat scared you? Anybody else had experience of this craft?

G'day... My garden stops at the edge of the Beauly Firth - in fact I think my deeds say that I own the land to the Spring High Tide mark! Never fished off the foot of the garden tho I have seen large fish moving a few yards out in summer. Likely to be sea trout or maybe salmon. The webcam is in my office window and looking down the garden. WebCam (Tugmistress - let me know if you find a decent webcam as like you, my cheap job does not do justice to the views... )

I would be interested in any trips going - particularly the Gairloch boat as Scrabster is fair hike North for me (but doable depending on 'her indoors'). Any info on the Gairloch boat welcomed as I have some friends with a young son staying soon who are keen to get on the water. Took them to Ardmair Bay (by Ullapool) couple of years back where we rented a self drive motor boat and caught a couple of cracking pollack plus mackeral. Great pity but that operation is now closed down with the owner blaming rocketing cost of insurance for its demise. Are there any other 'self drive' boat hirers in the Highlands apart from the chap at Embo I wonder?

Thanks Spanner for sharing that mark. Wandered up there and past the old gun emplacements last week and went down onto the rocks. Was treated to a swim past by a basking shark, a family of porpoises who circled for a good hour, couple of otters and a king size seal. The bait rod never twitched all day but I got two decent bass on the lure. Went home de-stressed and happy.
