  1. Get down your local home brew shop and get a fermenting bin, they come in all sizes and have decent lids and they are cheap.
  2. Purchased Charlie Bettell for a day for a spot of lure fishing on the Norfolk Broads, had a great day, didnt catch but learnt a lot. Charlie is nice and a pleasure to fish with. Charlie even dropped us off at our boat that was moored up locally, he came a board and had a cup of tea with my family and signed a couple of books for us.
  3. Kestrel exactly what i was looking for, thanks a lot mate, i will get my mate a set and if they are as good as you say i will get myself a set. Thanks Kestrel. As for the Krills, i like the look of these and one will get added to my gift list that i left with my wife for Xmas,B'days and Fathers day presents. Thanks for everyones input.
  4. I think i may order them and let my mate tell me if they are any good. Elton, i am interested in the Krill light you mentioned do you have website of a cheap supplier ? Do you the think Krill lights are something worth purchasing from America ? or asking my uncle to send me one !
  5. Heres a link Sound Lite I have read a couple of reviews and bits on forums, I am thinking its a love it or hate it product. I am thinking that it would be a benefit for helping get to yours rods in a timely manner ie u can see your boots or even the switch for your lantern, i have had a run in the night and knocked my torch off my clip and struggled to find it !
  6. Sound Lite II Auto Rig Light Has anyone used the above lights ? I am looking to buy them for a gift for a gadget mad carper mate, but if they are any good i may get myself some. He has your usually Lantern and Head torch, i just thought the above may be an advantage as it is sound operated. Any thoughts or comments appreciated
  7. Just thought i would high jack this old post to show i have been looking at all things related to the John Wilson Avon Quiver. I am looking to purchase a multi purpose rod that i can use mainly for catching live baits but can be stepped up to catch a few big ones if the fishing is good. I currently use a whip for margin fishing but i want to get a bit further out and be able to swap between a feeder and float without changing rods. I have read a lot of reviews about the older JW rods but haven't seen much if anything on the new rod. I have got it in my head that i would like to purchase this rod, i have seen it at Tacklebargains and this seems a good price and i have always found them to be a reliable firm. I have looked at other firms and i have found a firm that is throwing in a reel but i cant work out if it is the latest version. Does anyone have any links for deals? Has anyone got the latest version IE the one at tackle bargains ? Is it any good ? or should i have a look at the shimano rod mentioned in a post above. Thanks for any thoughts you may have. (my head hurts from doing a lot of looking about for info, tis my bday at the weekend and i want a new toy, these things are normally easy as i get my dad to buy/ research a rod for me but his Internet is down so i am having to do it myself)
  8. Try here mate http://www.tacklebargains.co.uk/acatalog/F..._Materials.html
  9. No sorry not the the Butty man Melv but i can often be found at one !! I didnt fish hudson last year but i have been at least twice a year in previous and to be honest i just went for the tiddlers just me and a couple of mates to get us back into fishing, i couldnt go regular as it would bore me to tears after a while catching 2 many fish. have fun!!
  10. Hudsons Farm at St Micheal, Fantastic place, you catch tiddlers all day and if u want to catch bigger fish this can also be achieved. Rawcliffe Rd St. Michael's Preston PR30UH http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?cli...out.x=1&out.y=6 Its not free but is not overly expensive and its great for everyone from kids to specimen hunters.
  11. Unhooking Mat, i often use my Sunridge Jacket as an unhooking mat, a bit of wipe with a damp cloth or not cos it is usually raining when i am fishing. Smells a bit if you dont give it a rub down after but i think it is quite functional and easily carried round with me.
  12. Quality Leon, i can picture a place for that on my desk at work !! Some good answer Liked Peter Sharpe's and had a good chuckle at Alan Stubbs reply Keep em coming
  13. Whilst reading at an undisclosed venue, i came across this statement and it made me think I cant ever remember telling someone who doesn't fish that i am a fisherman and them not "asking do you keep them ? " and when you tell them that you throw them back you are faced with a look of confusion. Now i live on the coast so could it be that they are aware some fish caught by rod in the sea are eaten. Just thinking that perhaps if we are to promote what it is we do, it is about telling non anglers that we don't kill everything we catch. (bring back Passion for angling !! or a Carp Big Brother show, One lake 15 peeps and Bivvies etc etc ) Could peeps who live inland comment on non anglers responses when you tell them you fish, just for interest.
  14. Hi, i personally i have asked for information about rod licenses for a couple of countries and i have noticed in my short time here on AN that it keeps coming up so i thought i would create a topic that could lead to an article that Elton could put on the site. . The Article being What licenses you need to fish Home and Away !!! There are people on this site from all over the world so it probably wouldnt take very long to get a good bit of helpful info together I will start us off with an easy one England and Wales requires a yearly Rod License see following link for more info and to purchase Rod Licenses England and Wales
