I'm tempted to join in this one, but my missus is looking over my shoulder!

Had a fabulous holiday in St Marlo, the aquarium is brilliant, particularly the sharks. You stand in the middle, and they all swim around you, and they turn the lights up and down to simulate night and day. Beaches are lovely in Brittany, and not crowded like here. Unfortunately, I didn't fish there!

I wonder how many sea anglers are giving up these days? In fact, I have often wondered how estimated numbers of sea anglers are arrived at? How do they know how many sea anglers there are, when there is no system in place like a licence to calculate numbers? It would be interesting to know how numbers of sea anglers have declined since the sixties. I used to have difficulty finding a space to fish on Dungeness beach in the winter back then. It used to look like a hop garden with all the rods. Different story now.

Being a sea angler, I havn't come accross such things before, so I assume they originate from course fishing. I was thinking of a trap to catch bigger fish. Silly me.

I thought this was an angling forum? Traps for fish! My god, whatever next.

A hamster would be a better size, you can have ours.

A rapid decline in catches, almost zero now, and no new species as yet. Talking to other anglers on the beach, it seems to be the same for everyone. I am 58, and have been sea fishing since about 1960. [ 21. July 2005, 11:01 AM: Message edited by: MLD ]
