    rod whipping

If you want to whip on your own rings, it's not that hard. I made several rods myself years ago, and discovered that whipping is in fact easy.
  3. Definately not. If I had an anti-tank weapon handy when I see trawlers scraping up what's left of the Sole 200yds off Dungeness beach in the summer, at night, I would sink the B******S.
  4. No, the NHS isn't mad, it's the managers that are mad.
  5. These have been going around for years. They make me laugh.
  6. Just proves that women go manky long before men do. Change the old model in for a younger one is the best policy. My wife is twenty two years younger than me!
  7. Yup, I'm an athiest too! demon [ 07. August 2005, 09:19 PM: Message edited by: MLD ]
  8. I have been an angler for 40 years. I used to catch plaice, sole, flounders without any problems. Now, I hardly ever see one. As far as I am concerned, that means that these species are vanishing. Don't care what anyone else says, that is the reason. These fish are very scarce compared to twenty or so years ago. The main reason is overfishing by greedy grabbing couldn't give a stuff about the future as long as they rake in the money now, commercial fishermen.
  9. Vanishing species ,Sole, Plaice, Flounder, Cod, Coalfish, Bass.
  10. Iv'e beem to Gurnard Pines, many years ago. The entertainment was very good then. Phone a local tackle shop for marks.
  11. Thanks chaps, only had limited time to fish, and only took my spinning gear.
  12. Just had a week fishing St Helens bay area at Nodes Point. Wading out up to my waist spinning over rocks and weed beds, evening fishing on the bottom with tiger prawns and mackerel. 6 days fishing two or three hours per session. Not a bite! [ 07. 13. Now that would be scary! Never seen three owls at once, must be a world record.
  14. That's put me off whisky!
  15. Blimy Simon, are you sure? Buy some good books or somthing, or ask for good internet sites like this one. http://www.mikeladle.com/osa.html or this one http://www.total-fishing.co.uk/Default.asp [ 27. July 2005, 08:29 PM: Message edited by: MLD ]
  16. Blimy Simon, are you sure?
  17. It clouted a bird on the way up, knocked a bit of tile off. Should be an exciting re-entry!
  18. Emz,on my last trip to Cyprus with BA, I was chatting to one of the female cabin staff. She said she had done the job for thirty years! Imagine, every working day for thirty years up in the air. Safe or what?
  19. You must be joking, we are all poor on here! Jealous as well. Go on, clear off and stand in the warm blue sea and do some spinning. We will hold the fort in the rain.
  20. How about a pair of plastic wings? Hold them on with elastic, give the intrepid fish a good chuck, tell it first that it's all in the interest of science in case it's worried, and it should glide and land about 100yds out.
  21. Just watched a dvd on the El Nino, very interesting. Hope it doesn't mean that the Atlantic Conveyor is about to switch off, we will be in deep ****, or the deep freeze.
  22. Yup, i think we have turned a significant corner in the state of the oceans. There must be a reason for hardly any fish off the beaches these days. A lack of whitebait/sandeels, and other fry would be one good reason. Some Bass that have been caught I hear have been in very poor condition. I foolishly thought that warmer seas would mean an improvement in Bass angling, but with nothing for the Bass to come inshore for, probably not. We also don't yet know how high sea temperatures will affect marine worms. Badly I think. [ 27. July 2005, 02:49 PM: Message edited by: MLD ]
