  1. Hi Mr Bump Just out of interest how much are you willing to spend as this does matter. I have a pair of wychwood rage rods, a 2.5 tc and a 3lb tc and a pair of wychwood maximiser freespin 80s. A rod and reel, cost about £80 squid. Now consider the money paid i am well impressed with these. I would not change. My advice get a pair of wychwood rages but thats my opinion. I also know that they have stopped making the wychwood rage rods, so yo may have to look about abit, but they are still about. Hope that helps STC
  2. Same here, off to my local pond 2maro after work, by about 5 oclock i hope to be there and fishing. Good luck to you sir. STC
  3. Hi Guys Cheers for the advice. As usual it was great. Elton the article was a great help STC
  4. So if i have this right, cast away then add the backlead and job done. STC
  5. Hi All In need of a bit of advice I am planning a weekend trip next weekend and i am gunna give backleads ago, never used them before. I understand how they work, put them on the line and it holds the line on the bottom and hence the fish should not see it so clearly, or some thing like that. Heres my question, when would you put the lead on the line, before or after casting. Now i am planing on fishing 2 rods, one close on the method so i guess i could just attach the backlead after i have cast and drop it over the edge. Correct?? The second rod will be 20-30 feet further out, again on the method, how would i go about putting the backlead on, before or after i have cast?? Any pointers would be great. Cheers STC
  6. I agree with rob whole hearted, the simpler you keep it the easier it is. I use a simple hair rig. Make a loop at the end of a piece of line (figure of 8 knot works well and is easy), does not have to be to small, Thread the hook down the line and do a knotless knot, you can if you wish put a bit of shrink wrap on the knotless knot to make a claw rig (i do) Tie on a swivel, job done. I am sure some one asked the same question a while ago concerning rigs, if you do a search in past treads you will come across it, i put a link on one of my posts to a good website with easy instructions. One thing i would say is do not get carried way with rigs, its more important to get what ever rig you are using in the right place at the right time, you could be using a floar set up and still catch great carp. Learn about the water you are tageting then worry about the rigs. Thats what worked for me. STC
  7. I buy total Carp, i have only been fishing for carp seriously for the last 2yrs, it has done me ok, i started with improve your course fishing which was a ideal. I found that it gave me the basics that i was missing and then when i new what fish i wanted to target more reguarly i was in a good position. My advice would be Improve your course fishing, then move on to a carp mag. To be fair its just as much about knowing your craft and the water you are targeting than it is about magizines. You can find just about everything you want to know on the internet and on here if you search about a bit. STC
  8. I use the dow egberts coffee jars with the push on glass lids, drives my wife crazy as i leave them around the house. I have currently got some boilies that are over 12months old. They have been soaking in additive. I buy the shelf life jobbies as i do not have the freezer space. STC

  14. Hi All Brilliant read guys. As for my self the only thing i have caught of any wierdness was an octopus when i was see fishing as a lad, it kept attaching its legs to rocks on the way in took bloody ages to get the little chap in, he was i recall not to happy about the wholw situation and spent a long time hissing and squirting ink. STC
  15. That looks very interesting, me and the wife and family are moving to Bournemouth this year as i have a new job down there. Think i will be checking that out. STC
  16. Hi Henda11 Easy answer it could do. Depends on a number of things whether you will catch not just the weather But what i would suggests is this, have a look about the lake before you set up and try see if any fish are showing. What i have found is that the fish will try and find protection from the wind if it is to strong. So fish the side of the lake that is protected from the wind if it looks to be strong. Also you could fish the opposite side of the lake as any bait that has been added such as freebies may be driven by the wind to that part of the lake and hence the carp may hold up there and eat on the bait as it arrives. Or none of the above, the best thing i would do is if you are unsure, roam about the lake and try and find the fish then get stuck in. Good luck STC
  17. When i was a kid and living in Devon, i had a small five foot rod that would break down in to two halfs that would fit nicely down the back of mt coat( i still have that rod but do not use it any more), i had any number of trout, they tasted goooooood. STC
  18. When I lived in Reading, a strech of water known as the Holibrook was infested with signals, me and a mate spent a night catching crays and feasting very well, catching crays on a boilie and a carp rod was interesting, pulled out one the size of a small dinner plate. STC
  19. Hello all This afternoon my wife was meeting a client (she is a screenwriter) so I stole our 13 month old daughter and took her to the local fishing store in Exeter, (Exeter Angling) as always they are very helpful and even helped me down the stairs with the buggy. My aim of this journey was to introduce our daughter to the ways of fishing and to buy myself a new Wychwood rage card rod. Lilirose (as this is our babies name) was very interested in all the things in the shop, so interested I had to carry her for most of it she kept pulling things over. the guys in the shop where however i feel use to such behaviour. I showed her chairs, bivvies, rods and reels and pointed out the various uses of all things fishing related esp carp equipment. We left the buggy down stairs and made our way upstairs to buy a rod, this is however where things went down hill. As I rummaged through the Rods looking for a wychwood rage rod it became clear that there where none there, not to concerned we asked one of the sales persons if they had any of the rage rods in store or if they could order me one. The chap then said, (this is the point where i almost droped young Lili) the rage line has been discontinued, and they could no longer get them. My heart sank, Lili cried and we left the shop very much disheartened. Once at home, on to ebay I went and hunted for a rage rod, I have now I am happy to say that i have purchased a rage rod and it will be on its way to me very soon (Thank God) So ladies and Gentlemen to let you know and you may already know this the line has been discontinued, if you want a rage rod bepaired you may have to do a bit of hunting. STC
  20. Forgot me bite alarms once, and there was no way of getting them either as i had been droped off, now this would have not been a problem but the pool i was fishing comes to life at night and fishes very slow through the day. Needless to say i caught very little. STC
