  3. Hi all I have been trying to get hold of phil at gf Bite alarms, but he has not answered which is not like him. I was wondering if any one had from him or if they new anything about how the remote system was coming along? cheers STC
  4. To be honest, i have found it made no difference, however saying that i always mix on the bank, and the reason I do that is because I like to use the lake water, and not chlorinated water from the tap. Its a personal thing but I have confidence in it and so I stick with it. I will make my groundbait/method mix on the bank and then set up. That gives the bait time to make and then I am ready for it. There is the argument that you will disturb the lake but if you are there for a while it prob aint going make a hugh difference. Hope that helps STC
  5. Ideal, just got to sell my stuff on ebay to be able to afford to by the stuff I want. Getting loads of watchers and no bidds (arse) STC
  6. Morning all I am looking to buy a new bed chair, want to spend about £100-£110. I have been looking at the aluminum frame ones as i want to cut down on weight. If any one has an advice or feedback on any bed chairs they are using at the moment please let me know. Thanks all. STC
  7. I tell you, if one of those popped in first thing for a coffee and a chat, that would wake you up. STC
  8. Hi You could get a cork ball stick maggots all around it (Medusa) and use that, as you would a pop up. That would fit a chod rig. Cant think of any thing else but if I do I will pop it up. Cheers STC
  9. Hi Fella I use a rig tubing, you could i guess do it a couple of ways Here is the rubing I use: http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http...=1t:429,r:2,s:0 (Sorry bit of a korda tackle tart) The way I do it is to use about 2-3ft of tubing and slide the mainline throw, then use a 5mm ESP Beads, so the beads are able to move once a fish is on. Here are the beads http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http...=1t:429,r:1,s:0 Or you could use small bits of tubing and slide them up the mainline and put the bead over them to hold the bead in place. I have seen both methods work. Hope that helps, any thing else let me know and i will see what i can do. STC
  10. Hi Why did you use braid? Just out of interest? One of the reasons may be that the braid plus pop up is to boyant and thats keeping the whole lot afloat. Here is what i use. I tried braid but was not happy with the presentation of the pop up, and after a mate pointed out to me it did not work quite right either, the whole idea of the chod is that no matter which direction the fish sucks it up it should spin around and take. Get ur self some ESP stifflink hook http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=esp+st...amp;FORM=IDFRIR This stuff i have found to be great and you can bend it over to make the exact curve on the rig itself. I have found that a rig no longer than a couple of inches worked well for me, but every venue is different. To get the whole lot to sink I use tunsten Putty (rather than sinkers) on the swivel, put it on the end of the swivel nearest the pop up. So the whole rig should go, Use a 16mm pop up not a 10mm. lead--------------bead----------------------------------chod rig-------------------bead----------------------- (Dotted line in the mainline) Hope that helps, if you need any more advice let me know. Cheers STC
  11. Used the one man version for 3 yrs and had no problems with it. All I will say is follow the instructions to the word when you put it up and take it down or you will run in to problems. STC
  12. Hi All Gunna use a chod rig on the weekend session. However if I have got this right the weight will settle on the bottom and the pop up will sit on top of the silt or weed. This would then allow you to use a flying back lead, to pin down the line and rig tubing? Am I correct? Cheers Guys STC
  13. Thats the plan, caught my current Pb in febuary when it was bloody cold and wet. Good luck to you to sir. STC
  14. Also bearing in mind, there is due to be a low pressure over the weekend it could be a good weekend for fishing one down side could be a bit wet. Or that is what i am planning on, going for the weekend myself with a couple of mates. Have just finished tieing rigs and getting my rods and bite alarms ready. Looking forward to what could be a great weekend. STC
  15. Sorry my bad, I use the word strike in the wrong context there, lift in to the fish is what i meant. Cheers, soz STC
  16. On the tigernut prebaiting, how many have you thrown in? The reason I ask as in winter carp tend to switch off or only feed for a shorter time. You want to make sure you do not over feed. I have done that and its not fun, 36hrs and not a single bite. I fish the method all year round, i have caught on the method in the middle of Febuary in the middle of exmoor when it was bloodly freezing. You have to use a smaller method feeder but other than that it should be fine. I will be fishing next weekend, I will have one rod on the method, another on a choddy rig and the third on an inline running shock rig. Vitalin, this is what you are looking for, http://www.amazinganimal.co.uk/vitalin-ori...kg-p-14486.html It has become harder to get hold of, but most pet suppliers stock it or can get it in. Any thing else let me know. Cheers STC
  17. To beat my pb of 24lb 5oz that i have been stuck on for 4yrs SCT
  18. Ha, the method mix, Here one that i have been refining for a couple of years. Vitalin dog food (Orginal) Hemp liquisied sweet corn Pellets (optional) Mainline syrup, both or seperate (pineapple and tigernut) A few whole sweetcorns Crushed boilies Tigernuts (Optional) few handfull of complete boilies Mix with lake water and to required texture salt The trick to method mixes is trial and error, i have fished quite a few lakes and have used different mixes depending on which lake i am fishing at the time as different carp like different foods. A lake I fished in Devon the carp loved pellet so the base for the mix was pellet. Another thing about the method is you are trying to attract the fish not feed, if you over feed them will they ignore your hook bait, do not over feed very important. I match my hook bait to the method mix, so the carp are used to feeding on the same things. Another thing about fishing the method you have to learn to sit on your hands (Note easy). I use very short hook links and tuck it in to the method ball, the carp will route about in the ball and you will get bleeps from the alarm (DO NOT STRIKE) wait until the fish starts to take line from the reel then strike. I lost count of the fish i have missed because of striking to soon. You of course can choose not to put the hook in the bait ball and treat it the as normal but what ever fits the situation you are fishing. If you fishing weed then i would suggest tucked away inside the bait ball. My advice would be try and work out what the carp like and base your mix around that. I have been fishing a lake in Dorchester for 2-3 yrs now and the above mix works there but it may not work at another lake. Hope that helps, any other questions let me know. STC
