  1. Of course we can all steam out as far as the chieftan cant we. saying there is plenty of fish left becuase someone can steam 100 miles and catch some is daft. If a charter boat steamed to iceland im sure they ciould catch more than chieftan. That doesnt make our fish stocks any better though does it. Maybe someone could steam to australia and have a great days barra fishing. Then some joker would post that there is some good barra fishing to be had if you go out on the right boat.
  2. No one takes comercial fisherman serious any more because they are a joke. They talk rubbish and steve good is living proff. saying that anglers are anything to do with the state of fish stocks is taking the peese when it comes from a comercial fisherman it is even more of a joke. Theres only one place all the fish have gone and thats into comercial nets. They should stick there sea angling licence up there bum but charge comercial fishermen thousands to put right all the damage there've done.
  3. good idea jaffa. then there wouldn't be anything exept jellyfish left and no one would have to worry.
  4. 3mm is the hole world to a commercial fishermen. Thats what they keep saying when it comes to landing sizes. 3mm? its my living i'll go out out of busness. 3mm might seem a tiny amount to you but to me its a lot they say. Unless your talking about using mesh thats to small Then 3mm is nothing. Not even worth worrying about. These commercial fishermen are a joke and most of them deserve to loose there busnesses. If they were employed by someone they would all be sacked for being dishonest. and jaffa would apologise for all of them.
  5. All the best skippers ive been out with and ive been out with plenty have fished. If a skipper dont fish it eoither means his not interetsed or he knows his not going to catch anything. nothing better than seeing a new skipper getting his rod out it fills you with confidence and hope. I've been out with skippers who havent fished and theyve never been much good. no interest not even with other jobs like sorting out tangles and stuff. Making tea is important as well. good skippers make plenty of tea. in between fishing.
  6. caught still they got to earn a living aint they.
  7. Ive seen youre posts before jaffa. you are a bit of an apolagist for comercial fishers arent you.
  8. still they got to make a living aint they.
  9. wrong conseltation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 26 of april is the 20 year sceme. 8 of june is the marine bill.
  10. So a comercial fishermen can put what he wants to where he wants to agenst the rules or not and it dont matter. But when someone puts some divice to tangle your nets where he wants to its wrong. Is that right wuzzel? Make your mind up. you always said whats good for the goose is good for the gander. Can people put things on the sea bed where they want to or not? who the f*cking w*nker?
  11. I carnt see that. secret squirrells and all that. Why does gilson have to talk in riddles.? If he had such an important thing that he needed to bring up why cant he just say it.? Im sure the sea fisheries would be able to sort it out thats what they are there for. or is gilson saying they arent capable of sorting it out. maybe he is saying they are useless. Who know what he is saying becuase he speaks in riddles. I think its more likly hes just having a pop at angling because hes got the hump.
  12. If its nothing to do with angling why has gilson said about hooks in worms for sport and the bass and tope by laws and the recretional fishery.? If hes worried about something diferent from angling why dont he just say what hes worried about.? Why does he talk in riddles.? sorry ronessex youre argumant is weaker than gilsons one. If gilsons got any beef with anglers he should just come out with it.
  13. Gilson proposed a cull on bass a little wile ago. cull bass, cull seals, yet he says his conserned about some lugworms and crabs. He will want a cull on anglers next. he hasent done himself and hes mates any favors. With frends like Gilson sea anglers are the last thing comersial fisherman need to worry about.
  14. This is from the man who want to ban sea fisherman from getting crabs and worms for bait. he says his concerned about there welfair. Have alook at this which is anotherone of hes proposals. The man is mad. another classic from mad mister gilson Essex: Shoot the seals! From the archive, first published Wednesday 27th Feb 2002. Fishmonger Paul Gilson has called for thousands of seals to be shot because they "risk the livelihoods" of Essex fishermen. Mr Gilson, 48, who lives in Leigh, said the coast of Essex had become over-populated with grey seals which were creating havoc for the industry by eating tonnes of fishstocks each year. However, his demands have sparked fury with animal rights campaigners who have branded them "horrendous". Mr Gilson, owner of Gilson's fishmongers in Burdett Road, Southend, said: "There are too many seals and they have to be culled. They are eating all the fish and causing major headaches for local fishermen. "I'm not saying they should be battered to death with bats, like we see on TV, but killed in a more civilised way. "I know I will enrage animal rights people with what I am saying but if it is a case of protecting the fishing industry then it has to be done." "The seals - and there are about 3,000 of them along the Essex coast - are a menace. There are at least 30 grey seals off the coast of Southend and more are arriving each day." He said in Clacton the seals were getting so clever that they were stealing fish from fishing nets. Veteran animal rights campaigner Pat James, of Hazelwood, Hawkwell, launched a scathing attack on Mr Gilson. She said: "What's the matter with the man? It's a horrendous, appalling and disgusting thing to even think about doing. The problem of dwindling fish stocks is caused by overfishing. "So it's because of the fishermen themselves - not the seals." Brian Dawson, who runs boat cruises to see the seals, branded his comments "disgusting". 15. anglers spending so much time on the web talking abot fishing issad. Comercial fisherman coming on a angling website is even sadder. Comercial fisherman and anglers arguing about everything is even sadder. But mikec making out hes a comercial fisherman and argung is the saddest thing of all. I read here that he only pretens to be a comercial fisherman and so he can argue with anglers. how sad is that. Mikec you are a sad fLIcker get a life.
  16. O no not another essex muppit feathering bass. what is it with these idiots. There was a bit about some thicko charter skipper in boat fishing magazine last year who let his party feather up undersize bass. That was in essex. dawn braker I think the boat was. The bloke who did the article was just as thick as the skipper. he thought strings of feathers was a good way to cach bass. topless fishing. brainless fishing more like.
  17. Lots of poutings and rocklings falling to legered lugworm tactics. tipping with squid sorts out the better fish. dogfish to fish baits. Keeping the baits moving with a slow retreve has taken some flanders up to half a pound. some good sport with eels at night time. Someone caught a starfish the other day while fishing for dabs. This months catch measure and release match was won with a pout and 2 rockling for 12 inches. crabs have been a pest. The recent gales have stirred things up a bit. Fishing has been almost impossible in places with anglers having to stop mid retrieve to pick weed and toilet paper off their line. Most anglers are looking forward to next months arrival of the whitings. some of these fish can grow to 14 inches long.
  18. Cats make good tope bait cut up into strips. The left overs can be left in the sun to atract magots for fishing. you can make bass flys out of the fur so nothin gos to waste. Lots of strays round my way. Cheep bait. lovelly.
  19. OK answer me this then. How much money do these sfcs cost then? How much of my money goes to keep these sfcs in business? What is there buget each year? what do they spend it on? Not looking afetr the fish stocks by the sound of it. Does anyone on the sfcs earn wages? Am I paying their wages?
  20. Oh well maybe things arent so rosy in the world of recreational fishing if someone has to go to all that ****** to promote a mate charter boat. The lady said her loved one likes the long trips on the big boat.
  21. Not surprising that recreational fishing is worth more than commercial fishing. The industry that removes graffiti is worth more than the commercial fishery. I wouldnt be suprised if the tiddleywinks industry is worth more to.
  22. Where do these rules apply then wuzel? More importantly where are they inforced? Cant you see a bit of you saying exactly what the japs are saying? I think the similaritys are uncanny.
