  1. I'll second that, superb piece of kit.
  2. Thanks guys, gonna give both methods a go but will probably give Woolpack a miss this weekend, I reckon it'll be "rammed" by Thursday tea-time. Do y'get down the Woolpack much?? if so which lake do you prefer? I spend most of my time on either 3 or 2 (only green card member). If you're on the Gold card, is it worth the extra wonga?
  3. Gonna try small (10mm) single fluro pop-up at the woolpack nect week, simply because the lake has been bombarded with spodded bait this weekend and I reckon a different approach is required. I, like most others, blanked again and put it down to the commotion caused by spodding (noy me I'll hasten to add!!). Only 1 carp was banked all weekend. Anyway not being a pop-up guru can anyone please suggest rigs (not too complicated please) I could use, need to cast between 40 & 60yards dependant on which swim i manage to acquire (if any, it's gonna be manic this weekend)
  4. Thanks Cannon, know of any other runs-waters holding 20's ????
  5. Thanks Dan, following post rules out Taswood for a couple of weeks but that should be ok. Swangey's looking favourite at the moment unless we find a better option.
  6. Thanks Ant, we had considered Oxlease but as you say it's a BIG struggle getting a peg. Grant actually fished (and blanked!!!) there last November but by the sounds of your next post it's starting to throw up a few Spring fish. Still fancy the Taswood Lakes fishery nr Norwich but don't want to get taken in by some "nice" photos on their website so would love to hear from someone who's fished there or knows a bit about the place. There's another supposed "runs-water" near there called Swangey Lakes which I pike fished (without success) on one occasion many years ago. I'm told the fishing is good and fairly easy but the rats fight harder than the carp, angain would appreciate any news n views on Swangey. Lastly "CATCH 22" is that place worth a shot?
  7. My mate's emigrating at the end of May and is desperate to land a twenty before he parts company. His PB is 16lbs and he'd just love to do a 20. Anyone know of any HOT waters resonably close to Cambridge area where we could go for an overnighter and have a good chance of a 20 (or three!!). Thought I'd treat him as a going away pressie. Just done my first 20 in France and know what a buzz I got, would love to see my mates face if he banks one. In brief, looking for an easy runs water with loads of 20's and within 2 hours drive of Cambridge, any offers??? Heard Taswood Lakesnr Norwich might fit the bill??????
  8. So there's TWO (Biggin, presumable Hill and Heathrow in the 115 range). How will a fishfiner with a range of less than 100ft affect ATC radios over 60 miles away!!!! Not being rude, just not wise enough to know how all this fits together. Does it mean by using my USA smartcast I could endanger lives of people flying????
  9. So what is it they do to the radio traffic then. My mate bought me one back from the States earlier this year and it hasn't interfered with my pocket radio in the slightest, works just the same when in close proximity. Cost me around £60 from America but to buy one here would've been almost £200. If there is a big fine I'd better be careful where I employ the thing but cannot imagine how or even why I'd get fined and by whom?????????
  10. Heard on Saturday that Lenny Middleton passed away last Tuesday after having a heart attack. Can't claim to have been a personal friend of Lenny's but I'm sure anyone who fishes the Woolpack@ Godmanchester on a regular basis would call him a "friend". I've had many-a-chat with Lenny during his Spring/Summer campaigns on the WP and enjoyed his company immensely over the last couple of years. A true legend amonst mere anglers, Lenny will be sorely missed and the WP will not be the same without seeing his "Wheelie Bin" sitting in one of his favourite two or three pegs. It was a privilage to meet & chat with you Lenny, rest in peace "mate". Phil
  11. RRP = £29.99 for 600m isn't tooooo bad but check out the monthlies cos I've clocked it on offer at £19.99 from one of the retailers, think it may have been Bowlers.
  12. Never had any trouble with Fox soft steel, great line but currently on X-Line 12lbs and have no complaints, took a while to bed in but now its gad a tug or five it's fine. Everyone will have their own favourites though so be prepared to be even more undecided when this thread ends............
  13. Still looking???? Might be able to help, mate emigrating has loads to get rid of.
  14. This is my last attempt !!!!!!!! Give up !!!! all I get is this:- The total filespace required to upload all the attached files is greater than your per post or global limit. Please reduce the number of attachments or the size of the attachments.
  15. Perhaps it was a liquid now I come to think of it. Surely it was intended for just that (dipping hooklengths), can't think of another use can you?
  16. I realise I'm a techno-phobe but need some help getting a picture or two of my new PB posted on here. Guidance needed!!!!!
  17. Did I read somewhere (or maybe I dreamt it) that someone's marketing a PVA spray that you can apply to soft braid hook lengths to give them the "stiff" effect whilst being cast and then obviously as the PVA passes through the water to the lakebed is dissolves to leave a soft braid hooklength?????? sound ingenius and viable but did I dream it?????
  18. No, can't blQQdy do it, knew I'd have trouble. Someone please explain how to load piccies cos I'm some sort of techno-phobe I'm afraid. Getting very cross now!!!!!!!!
  19. Please can someone explain to a "still learning" but "not so novice" carp angler like myself the benefits of one type over the others. I've tried all three with limited success but cannot work out whic is the best material. Pressumably the all have their own strong and weak points.
  20. Sorry, didn't get a chance to stick them onto a CD, will have a go tonight. Might even log onto here from home and try to load some.
  21. Gonna try to load some piccies either over weekend or Monday!!!
  22. Ginger, Great to hear from you again, hope all is well with you. Assume you're still fishing SM? Haven't been your way for a while now, had a fall-out with my brother so don,t have much cause to venture into your neck of the woods. Doing mostly carp fishing these days, but still like to have a go at Mr Essox occasionally though. Cheers - Phil
  23. Depends what "flicks y'switch" mate St Ives complex is really nice and natural but NOT an easy water. All lakes hold carp with Shallow lagoon being my favourite. 24/7 fishinf don't come cheap though it's £300 ish and ther'es a waiting list. Lakes recently frequented my the likes of Mr Hearn, Mr Lane & Mr Jackson hence price. Hard waters but lovely to fish. Then theres Monks on th A14, apparently £600 a year so well outa my league. Commercials abound in the area with Lawn Farm @ Cambourne and Manor Farm on the A1 near Biggleswade. Personally I join the Woolpack and then pop to Lawn Farm or Manor Farm to put a bend in the rods. The Woolpack has been fishing very hard recently and a lot of people are getting put off going there but stick with it mate co when it turns on then boy-o-boy will you be in for a good day. It will happen, just a case of waiting and being there when it does. Which lakes do you frequent mate, I'd suggest either 1,2 or 3. Lake 3 gets a lot of pressure especially when 4,5,6 & 7 close shortly so why don't you have a crack at lake 2. I know there's at least 1 thirty in there and it's only a small lake. Also loads of lakes at Earith but mostly syndicates, y'need to ask around cos they're often looking to increase membership.
  24. In my mind PC stands for "Pathetic Country" and it's getting worse by the minute. first oportuinty I get I'm outa here, probably France, they do not allow anyone to invade their country and take over. We Brits are sad gits who just put up with EVERYTHING that's thrown at us and never stand up an get counted. Enough responses on this thread to show there's bad feeling out there but what do we do about it I ask? NOTHING, that's what, absolutely "Jack-Sh!t"
  25. HO HO HO !!!! Nice one Elton. I'm well chuffed but just a tad worried about how in God's name I'm gonna "beat it". Maybe I'll do a split PB with 26lbs being my overseas best and retain the 14.02lbs as my top UK fish. Reckon on doing my first Uk twenty this year or at least that's the target. Who knows might just get a thirty, there's three known fish in my target lakes at the Woolpack.
