  1. I am going down to Brighton Marina on friday night a few hours before high tide to mainly catch mackerel but I also fancy having a go at the bass. I am thinking of lure fishing with a spinning rod. Can anyone give me some tips on what kind of lures are best and how to retrieve? If the above fails what other baits are good for bass at this time of year?? I am not very experienced at sea fishing so I apologise if my questions seem a bit newbie any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks You
  2. Does anyone know the total number of Anglers in the country? Including coarse, Sea and Game? I'm guessing that the EA must know how many licenses it sells to the coarse/game anglers and then a load more on top that fish the seas. It would be nice to know what kind of voting power we have!

    Snakes?

****ing **** again... I had a tench rod and a carp rods setup and caught 5 bream!!! Its the 4rth time that has happened to me on the old lake. I talked to a number of other people on the bank some who fish the old lake every weekend, They were all of the opinion that the fishing has been very bad for a few months now. Have the carp all been moved to the new lake???

    Snakes?

I saw one yesterday at Bury Hill. It appeared in the margin and swam to the other side. Three geese gave chase but they turned around when they managed to get close enough to see what it was!!! I couldn't make out which snake it was but I imagine that it would be a grass snake. From a distance you could clearly see is little black nose poking up out of the lake and its body doing the classic snake wiggle!! Has anyone else seen much snake activity on the waterside?
  5. Excellent program I think. The only trouble is that its on when i'm in bed or when I'm fishing. I have searched and searched for a downloadable version legal or otherwise but have had about as much luck as Sven. Can anyone help me??
  6. This Monday I am off to burry hill again and I though I would add up how much the trip will cost me, Day Ticket £11 Extra Rod £5.5 These are the fishery charges for using two rods Hooks/Links £6 Pellets x 3 £12 Boilies £10.50 Groundbait x 2 £6 Maize £2 This is a lits of the things I picked up from my local tackle shop (Gerry's Soft Pellets £4 Wimbledon). I will not be using everything up on this trip but I also have Hemp £3 other bits and bobs I will be using that I already have. Oils/ Flavouring £5 Leads £3 Rig Tube £2 Split Shot £5 Floats £3 T float stops £2 Petrol £5 Food/Drink £8 Other costs TOTAL £93 No wonder my wife gets cross at my new hoby. Is this a normal amout to spend for a days mixed/carp fishing??
  7. Never fished it but I guess the best time would be as the tide is rising, moving towards high tide. You would need some serious gear. Maybe sea fishing gear. I think that you would also have to pre bait loads and loads to get the fish in your area. I bet you would catch all sorts of fish that far up. If you do it let me know as I have always fancied giving it a go near Putney but have never got round to it. This web site has some reports from the tidal river Thames. I think I read most of them and non came from area you are thinking of fishing but it is still interesting stuff, Lots of carp anglers target the tidal Thames. http://www.cemexangling.co.uk/forum/showfl...p;page=3#306428
  8. Has anyone ever fished this part of the Thames? Any adivce or tips please. Will be fishing one rod for carp and a lighter feeder or float rod for silver fish.
  9. Do you have a pic ? Is the river close to the sea?
  10. Has anyone been?? I have read that pit 3 holds the bigger carp?? Any tips or advise welcome.
  11. Which boilies do you recommend for carp at this time of year? I tried the new Dynamite baits spicy chicken today and blanked!

    The Wandle

I will be in a few days time. Its free aswell!!
  13. I saw about 200,000 dace and other small fish, 4 good Chub to about 5lbs and a few small Barbel to about 2lbs all in a small stretch of the river near the lovelly "southsides" shopping complex. Luckely I had a few 12mm Halibut boilies and a slice of bread in my pocket!. I managed to get the Chub feeder after the smaller fish had eaten most of my suppies!

    Worms

I have loads of medium to large lob worms and plan to use a few of them together on a hair to catch large carp!! I am toying with idea of using a korda maggot clip or maybe threading the hair though the worms or maybe using pellet bands? Any advice on hooks, hookslenghts, etc etc very welcome?
  15. Got to Brighton at 0500 and bagged about 30 mackerel by 0800!! The halibut pellets blanked...
  16. Will be getting up early to catch the 0430 high tide. Will be fishing 2 rods. One with the usual sea fishing tackle but my other rod will have halibut pellets as hook bait along with a double bag of pellets and halibut groundbait just to see what happens!!
  17. I have seen lots of asians sea fishing on the thames estuary. I think black lads don't get into it because most of them live in urban areas where country sports are not seen as cool. I think this is the biggest reason. A good mixed bag of silver fish wont get you much respect on the street of hackney!! Image is everything...
  18. I went float fishing on the Avon at Eckington at Christmas and caught 30-50 of these little things in the space of a few hours. I think its a Dace?? Am I right?
  19. I take your point but I bet that if a man from an ethnic minority and had been beat up by a gang of white men the front page banner heatline would have included the words "white" and "racest" even if it had nothing to do with race. I hope he landed a few good fish before the incident!!
  20. Funny why the word racist is not used when the victim is a white man??
  21. I went out to burry hill on thurtsday for a bit of bream fishing using feeder and quiver tactics. I fished for about 7 hours and managed to land about 6 bream all of about 4-7 lbs. Most of the fish did the usual bream thing of twitching for a bit and then giving up completely. One of the larger fish I caught just after being hooked jumped out of the water by a few inches followed by the swim feeder went back down for a couple of seconds and then jumped clean out of the water dragging the feeder behind it again. Is this normal?
  22. Thinking of trying it with the same as a hook bait ot Ogmore Deeps?? What do you think?? Has anyone ever tried anything like this?
  23. I'm going for a days fishing on Sunday. Thinking of having one carp rod and another for tench. Can anyone give me any tips on bait, tactics or swims?? Whats the largest carp in the lake? What time should I look get get on the bank for? Thanks for any help. Ian
  24. I think that it is almost impossible to join the carp club now which allows you to night fish, use three rods and fish the temple lake. The largest fist are all in the main lake anyhow!
  25. In cases like this it will be well worth you paying the few hundred pounds max to seek advice from a local financial advisor. He (or she) would have dealt with cases like this thousands of times and will be able to show your parents the best way to keep hold of the money they have worked all their life for. Its well worth taking professional advise!!
