  1. My dad fished their on saturday had 6 fish to 4.5lb. Bite a cast fished dere for around 2 hours.
  2. Yeah sounds orite im going to be up around the beaches for the majority of the next two months practicing so will no doubt catch you around their. Sounds like a not bad session is their a decent sea running? Which side did you fish left or right?
  3. How did you get on matt? How well do you know easthaven? their is particular bits that are awesome over high as well btw
  4. Same easthaven is my favourite mark doesnt matter the tide as long as the sea is huge. Had some big bags and good fish from their this year started late october with a bag of 43lb 13 fish, then had a 8lber later on in the season.
  5. I honestly dont think i go to a match throughout the whole year without crab, if frozen properly or in fresh form looked after properly it can outfish any bait. In previous years due to a shortage in forzen crabs we have ordered fresh crab straight from ireland, made a big difference in some matches!!
  6. Kirkcaldy. Fife around 40 mins drive from awesome cod fishing well in theory anyway!
  7. Ive had my slosh30's n 20s for a few years now cant beat the 20's for doggy fishing and casting, the only problem i find with the 30's is the handle gets a bit squeky and wobbly after some use!!
  8. I was at the game, have to say it was a great honour to watch the world champions play, what made it a whole lot better was we kicked them all over the park and won!!
  9. To be honest over mixed ground i normally use 18lb line usually shakespere specimen sea sa its cheap and as good as anything else on the market. The important thing I guess is the shockleader, personally id be inclined to go for a higher breaking strain of shockie. I pendulum cast and i know i could easily break a 50lb leader during the cast, I use 80lb the good thing with that is it acts as a rubbing leader say fishing from rocks onto clean ground or the like.

    maddies

For flounders, particularily round your coast maximo, Us lads who come and fish your way normally use a single lugworm tipped with 3 or 4 maddies/whites!! Kamasan b940ms are the best hooks really give perfect presentation of thin worms!! Hope that helps!!
  11. Your beaches are completely different from ours. The beaches along the north coast of england and scotland, in general terms, are very shallow surf beaches where flounders feed in close around the breakers. Correct me if im wrong but the majority of beaches down near you are deepish in close. Maddies and white worm work as well anywhere along the shoreline in the UK im sure though!
  12. Awesome bait, as chris says not that hard to get hold of if you know where and how. Awesome tipping a small bullet lug with a chunk of white worm flounders, bass and rocklings love it. To be honest winter ,lug and mackeral is an excellent bait, try using lug tipped with 3 maddies on a size 2 kamasan b940m superb combo. On alot of the beaches you will often find lug is not essential, mackeral is perfect for good size flounders, but makesure its top quality mackeral not soft n mushy!!
  13. Dont bother its called aniseed oil, used it for a day when hundreds of flounders were being caught n I blanked!!

    A flyer

Aye i do the same as max normally use between a 1oz n 3oz drilled bullet, can come in handy when fishing at distance for dogs or the like and theirs pollock wrasse, flounders in close can help pick up an extra fish when its scratchy!! To use effectively clip on when slack and tighten up and keep pumping the rod tip to make the slider go further down. Easy when you know how but takes practice like alot of things!!
  15. I fished in the same match davy and had a similar bag i fished right next to the guy that was 2nd and all his fish including a 7lb huss n a 7lb thornie came on rag tipped mackeral on a three hooks flapping rig with 25lb snoods and size 2 kamsans!!
  16. Bring on more easterlies it kicks up an awesome sea up here thats really good for cod fishing!!
  17. what you need it three hooks clipped up using cascade swivels, n size 2 hooks preferably kamasans b940 this will allow you to fish either rag or lug tipped with either a thumb nail size of mackeral or a half chunk of medium ammo sandeel!! Head hook the rag or lug n whip it into the sandeel/mackeral! if your fishing into darkness use lumi beads and stop knots(shrink tube would be ideal).
  18. Nice fish, u might have got 10lb out of it if you had weighed it straight away though. Listen to winter though ive learned lessons the hard way and always use 50lb snoods minimum for cod fishing, ive lost big eels, cod and pollock due to 30lb snoods let me tell you never again. Lets hope the conditions continue for the north east.
  19. Snapped three rods, not been misused or anything just snapped! Greys seem happy enough to replace them though. Fantastic rods all the same.
  20. The most simple way to do it is fish to either 15cm or 20cm everything counts, five points for each fish caught so say 8 fish are caught thats 40 extra points added on to your overall length.
  21. Il be there hoping for a huge sea. Was out thursday had 4 to just under 8lb 2 down rumness 2 at an undisclosed location.
  22. Our best month is probably behind us now in my opinion end of decemeber signals bigger fish but in general smaller bags. As soon as january passes us by we might as well fish for flounders from the beaches, the cod seem to just dissapear even in the very best conditions . The conditions for the match on the 29th are looking up!! Snow = big bags, big cod lotsa fun and a good test on all those new jackets!!
  23. Popped upto cellardyke was flat calm, gin clear not ideal but I thought id give it a bash! Fishes from 1.30 - 6.15 fished the flooding tide. Clambered over all the reefs and got down to the waters edge, to my surprise dere was the slightest of swells.. result!! First cast nothing, second i noticed a wee titty bite then the nemi + slammed over in the stand, so i grabbed the rod felt for a bite nothing.... 5 mins later i lifted into a fish that went mental, a wrasse hit the rocks a few minutes later a fish around 2.5lb, nicely lip hooked, slipped it back! No bites, then briskly darkness came down the rod was suddenly alive, loadsa wee bites nothing big had a few tiny wee coalies taking the 2/0 pennel straight down!! Changed baits from the usal crab mussel, crab razor to a healthy chunk of spider crab. The rod slammed straight over 5 minutes into the cast lifted into a nice fish straight away that was careering across all the reefs making life difficult. but i eventually dragged a bright red lean cod ashore around the 7lb mark. Was released straight away. A few hours later well into darkness i packed up and went home. Final tally : 4 cod from 4lb to 7lb and one wrasse at 2lbish not a bad night considering!!
  24. My dads got the triplex seems likes a really nice rod fantastic bit detection, its managed a double of dogs before so im guessing it could move a thornie. Ive heard mixed reports about the k2's some love em others hate them im guessing its all about personal preference. The triplex isnt tippy like the k2s more like a 13ft rod just longer if that helps!!
  25. Greys apollo mark 1 - superb slosh30 - Amazing power squeky handles perfect combination!! Penn super surf 35lb - Just superb Varivas 2/0 extras As for snags i do the same as Shaun, but if their is a fish on it, I treat it as though its a wrasse and keep backing up with the rod vertical to try and prize the thing out of its hole!
