  1. Wishing best of Christmas Set To the folks at Anglersnet!
  2. In Russia 99% of fishermen eat what they catch, because the country is on some 70-th position in the world "life level" list, and because we cannot eat oil&gas we have a lot That's why I mention "fish soup" in my reports
  3. For a 12v TV I can recommend a completely sealed accumulator used for domestic security systems, as well as for fishfinders and for starting radio-controlled plane models. 4 to 7 Amh capacity may be enouph. There are also small 12v acc.batteries for motorcycles. And if the car is close, why not use a cable connected to the cigarette lighter socket? Best wishes, Nicholai
  4. Maybe we can have "matchfishing" added to carp, sea, course and fly forums on this site ?
  5. I agree with Polly, you'd better turn to rivers. We have three weeks of safe ice on lakes in the Moscow region of Russia by now and I can say that in a week ice-fishing season will be over there because of very poor results. On rivers fishing will be OK. I think it's because of lack of oxygen in "closed" waters and because in rivers fish has to move in currents and needs energy (food) compensation. By the way we very rarely use maggots in winter. Bloodworm ( for 0.1 pound sterling per session portion ) is the best bait for the season. As for groundbaiting, again we use a pure bloodworm+clay mixture instead of sweet summer aromas. Good luck, Nicholai
  6. I can add what we fishing people all know: irrespective of measuring system the weight of the fish we mention differs, to some extent from what the scales show Nicholai
  7. Oh! How tasty the fish soup was ! Those two palm (not palm tree ) -size perch were lucky, 'cause I saved them from pike's teeth! Nicholai
  8. I am just back from ice-fishing at minus 10 C in the morning. So I am ready with a fresh advice. However warm-dressed you are, you will certainly feel cold in the beginning of the session. So, have one-hour patience and it will be all-right later. It is like waking-up early on a cold morning followed by big sandwich and a hot cup of... My today's result: two 100g perch. Gonna cook a fish soup tonight Good luck! Nicholai [ 13. November 2002, 02:25 PM: Message edited by: Nodin ]

  10. I would recommend a good neckwarmer, like the one you can find ar www.turtlefur.com I use one for 7 years already and never had quinsy. Wishing you the same, Nicholai

  14. Over 60 chub were taken in 5 3-hour sessions, I describe as Flying over water. Locust was used as bait or grasshoppers. It came to my mind how to fish alone, while the line with a hooklength can be moved accross the river from bank to bank. Thanks to Mersedes with its 3-beam symbol: the two lower beams are the manlines of two spinning rod&reels, that I hold in both hands. They run back&forward through a ring in the centre of the star. And the farmost beam is tied both to the ring and to the tree on the opposite bank. After fishing is over, I simply break that thinner line by pulling the two that are in my hands. Now its the best season for this kind of fishing, so good luck! Any questions are welcome! --------- Nicholai

    wind

When float fishing in windy weather you can place a small shot on the main line close to the float, on the rod tip side to keep the line under water. I noticed good chub fishing in the evenings, when the wind disappears before sunset. Tight Lines, Nicholai
  16. In 1995-97 I used Eagle Supra Pro ID Portable for boat and ice fishing and was happy with it. For ice fishing I placed it into the cover of my fishing box, so it looked like a computer note-book . A useful tip for portable power supply: I can recommend 12v completely sealed accumulator batteries, used in home-security systems and available in special shops. Tight Lines, --------- Nicholai
