  1. Hi Stuio, welcome to AN As Sharkbyte has stated above is good advice with bass caught alongside the sea defences. Also an outside chance of Stingray on a warm settled day to king rag or peeler baits on a flooding evening tide into darkness. Good luck Mahoo
  2. I must admit to having a boxful of all sorts of plugs, spoons and spinners, but half the time i am scared to lose my £10 plug and go for the Dexters, mitrelites and tobys as they are a lot cheaper and have always produced the goods. they also cast like bullets! Happy bass hunting
  3. Cracking fish again mate! I am going to get a large telescope and that should tell me where you are fishing! you must have been a way out to get 95 ft
  4. Welcome Nedley, That sounds like one hell of a big Barracuda! Quite a feat on 8lb line
  5. Hi Rustam, I know of an angler who has recently purchased a pair of them and they seem to be quite beefy and lacking a little finesse, the same rods have had problems with the inserts to the rings popping out when a heavy fish has been attached. I know they cost more but the Team Daiwas and Abu Pro Suverans would get my vote every time as they are both cracking rods
  6. I must admit that it is becoming a little tedious this!
  7. On having tried to read through the marine bill fisheries part, this has come as a little bit of a surprise as they said that fisheries management had already been taken into account in the net benefits report, and therefore fisheries were unlikely to be covered in the marine bill. If anyone is having trouble sleeping at the moment, I can highly recommend reading the marine bill! The only problem with this is you may not wake up again
  8. Well done Mat, Fantastic fish there, looks like it's in top condition Are you still going to Anglesey?
  9. Sounds like you had a great evening The enthusiasm of kids whilst fishing is infectious!
  10. Lovely fish Steve! Was that a big black redgill for bait? I am itching to get out for the bass and over the last couple of days the local river has come alive with mullet so hopefully the bass will follow
  11. What a fantastic fish! Sounds like a nice session!

    Stingray

I am thinking of having a bash for stingray from the shore in the near future, but seeing as spring/summer has been a bit late this year, is the water going to be a bit cold still? Thanks in advance!
  17. Well done Sharkbyte and Sam, It's a great feeling when a plan comes together!
  18. I reckon that it is something with proper teeth, take at look at the top edge of the bite, there is triangular shaped marks where something has torn the skin off, I reckon baby tope with not quite enough power to bite through!
  19. We managed to get out on Sunday despite the no show of the east wind we were expecting! Not loads of fish about but a really good variety. I had... Sole Bass Thornback Ray Doggies Smoothound Whiting The sea was like a mirror out on the Gunfleet, but once slack water arrived the flood just never got going again. One chap had a nice 6 pound Bass!
  20. Yeah a few on the topwater lures, but you have to hang on to your rod as they do like a tailwalk
  21. I also support some of the stuff greenpeace do but I have sent them an email on this one as I think they have got their facts wrong and members of the public will be walking in to their local fishmongers and having asked for line caught species that do not generally get line caught, will be going home hungry!
  22. My best shore caught bass of 4lb was leaping like a salmon out of the surf when I caught it on an uptider on peeler, would love to see it go on a feeder rod!

    The Spring Run

I honestly think that you would get some good sport from the beach if you can't get out on a boat as they were really close in! Pm if you want any details.
  24. I will second that! i have had to just take out a second mortgage for all the new lures, rods and reels I have bought for India on thurs, luckily most will do very nicely for bass as well
