  1. Top couple of days in the water up here lads. Hope some of you have been able to take advantage of the weather. The bass and macks have started to take the plugs and seem to be very hungry at the moment - they seem to have arrived over night as we have been nearly every day over the past few weeks. A friend in croyde scored big on wednesday on his paddle board so we new we were close to the booty. My best mans (getting married tomorrow) bass had a whole crabs claw in its belly and a squid tube - nice! pictures here: http://www.myfishingkayak.co.uk/ cheers
  2. Hi paintfly yeah known of Welcome through surfing for years, and yeah it sure does look good for bassing! has to be a big swell to get any sort of wave action there so almost always ok for launching in terms of surf. there are a few awesome dingly dells on that stretch that are at the end of rough tracks that are only known by surfers and the farmers - Speaks Mills is another great place - that whole coast is very hard to get to and offers alot of promise. where are you located? cheers
  3. Hey Spuds yeah ive caught the sun a bit too. Yeah been out loads in the past month - last night went off puts for a couple of hours - not much to report apart from garfish chasing my spinner all the way to my side and then flicking off! nice to see them up and at it though - one of good size, going on a foot and half. think the treble on the wedge i was using was possibly too big? advice anyone? had a bass last friday - on the limit so popped him back - gave a cracking fight - caught him 5yds from shore while i was just cruising up the point. nice winds here today so in at high tide for another looksee. cheers
  4. Nice one Martin! how far did you come from? Combe Martin is really nice but next time get yourself here: http://www.myfishingkayak.co.uk/uploaded_i...runt-723761.JPG cheers
  5. Im feeling a bit left out up here in north devon, hearing about all your south coast exploits chaps! It seems you have a veratable "posse" down there, some might say a fishing kayak "massive" that is if they were clad in burberry topped with a baseball cap. So are there any north devon folk that would like to tool up and head out and possibly get organised enough to offer the guvners down south a meet/match. it would be nice to meet up here for starters. pav? up for it?
  6. cheers for the info chaps
  7. anychance you could post a pic of this handline or tell me in what section of B&Q you found it cheers

  10. Hi all Just rememberd something i saw last year on a beach near me and i dont know much about it or whether its legal or not. Low tide Putsborough, calm, just rowing the dinghy ashore after a loverrrly evening fishing. Dragging the boat up the sand i see these two dudes laying out a "long line" baited hooks every 2ft for about 100yds. Obviously after bass on the incoming. I said hello and what you up to with little response. Whats this all about and is it legal? never seen them before and havent seen them since.
  11. Just wondering to be honest. there are a lot of "scallies" around here that would take anything. whhoooaaa! just remembered something i saw last year and dont know about - new post!
  12. Hey all got my WSF newsletter today and hit this link: http://www.worldseafishing.com/adventures/...or_a_bass.shtml anyone know if the bass at the bottom of page got returned? Just wondering. "calm down dear"

hi guys yeah ive checked the weather too! looked at all the charts and its gonna be sh*****t for the rest of the week till mid week next week. bummer dudes ( respect to neil from the young ones ) after that its looking calm - but you all know long range forecasts
  14. Great job mate. i was only looking at that ff today for my yak. good position aswell. about time someone made a good use of that second cup holder. i picked up something quite different up on your ff tonight though...... http://www.myfishingkayak.co.uk/images/turin.jpg
  15. Just a quick post to ask if anyone knows of any secondhand versions of this kayak that maybe knocking around. The missus has recruited a friend to join the flotilla! - These north deben birds just cant contain themselves! cheers all
  16. couldn't resist the photo. re. lee bay spuds, yeah it was 4ft on most other west facing beaches. lee bay is a small village with carparking for about 6 cars at the front. it doesnt get crowded and tricky to park until summer, when you have to park up the road a way. i literally parked next to the slipway, kitted up and walked 20 yds to the incoming tide. Tiny bit of swell but only 6inches of white water. cant wait for next outing - possibly saturday at Puts - forecast is sunny with 17mph E - so puts should be ok close to the cliffs. gotta rig me an anchor!
  17. hi chaps all went well on my first "out of estuary experience". Went over to lee bay in north devon. surf was around 4ft on the main beaches but lee is very sheltered, just a mild swell running and no waves on the beach. had the missus and a friend keep an eye on me from the beach. i mainly spin, and dave at the north devon kayak centre said that bass and macky had been taken in the past couple of weeks, but alas no joy today. great fun though.
  18. Hi chaps much appreciated advice. i do have a keen sense of self preservation so will be embarking having read various articles on safety including daves great section on anglers afloat. although i have been around the sea most of my life and surfed since i was a kid im aware that handling one of these beasts is a different story, especially in surf. at the moment im only going around 200 yds off the beach but around 30 yds at any time from the headland. im relying on my mobile phone at the moment in a water tight bag but would like any recommendations on a handheld vhf. I agree with you richi about the number of people that are joining the sport this season (me being one of them) that are blindly paddling off into the wide blue yonder and i think we will see one on "seaside rescue". I just consider myself lucky/sensible enough to have found this friendly community. as for the hat.... ...my choice is the fez every time cheers
  19. Dudes Contrary to earlier weather reports in the week it seems like we are gonna get a little saturday joy in terms of wind. 6mph SE my easiest venue is putsborough which is sheltered from swell normally but i think there could be a couple of foot this weekend. any tips on launching thru surf? what are the limits? what do i have to look out for? read the US sites on this but they didnt go into too much detail. cheers kish
