  2. Hi all, I'm back home and I have just tried my new Prowler 15, I just have a small trip in the harbour, there is too much wind outside, I have performed a leak test and hopefully everything is OK, This morning I have received my FF Humminbird Matrix 17 & my GPS Explorist XL (it's christmas today), Dominic
  3. Hi Redro, I'm living in France (Saint-Malo / Brittany), I 'm going to start kayakfishing very soon, as Terry said, you don't have to bring your kayak with you, you can find almost everywhere good shops where you will find one, here is a website of a shop just near Lyon: www.kwa.fr , sure there are some kayak activities around, for kayakfishing in Lyon area, I don't know very well the place but sure there are some small rivers, lakes or ponds where you can fish, also as you said, Mediterranean sea is not too far, it's possible for a week-end to go fishing there, don't hesitate to contact me if you need, "Bienvenue en France" Dominic
  4. Thank you Simon for your answer, my main concern will be of course to not fall off my kayak, the floating line when at anchor is a very good solution, I have well understood that to be attached to the kayak is not "advisable".I have some experience on sailing boats where the use of safety harness and life line is not so easy, we don't have the habit to be blocked in our movements, the safety device begins a hazard. As we say in my job (oil business offshore), "too much safety kills safety", it's like make-up for a young girl, just enough is attractive, too much is too much... I will experiment capsizing near the beach, I'll try also to swim with my kayak suit and PFD, thank you again, I've made good progress in my safety awareness (without any condescension!) Dominic
  5. I have a question: if a capsizing occurs, the yak and yourself are not drifting at the same speed depending of wind or current, are you attached to your yak and how? could a life line create a problem (engaged your leg for example) if badly fitted? in one word, what is the best way to be attached to the yak? Dominic
  6. very good post guys I have the same approach, I have a long experience at sea but safety is always present as a daily concern, very good feeling reading this post, thanks Dominic
  7. Hi my Yellow Prowler 15 arrived last wednesday afternoon in Saint-Malo with 6 weeks delivery delay, I left home early thursday morning for Africa where I work in oil industry, I didn't see my new kayak, I apprehend my return in 6 weeks and the pressure test which I must make, it's a shame to have as much problems of this kind, I'm really soory for you Zzippy Dominic

  11. Hi all, thank you very much for your welcome, for Starvinmarvin: there are not too much french sites about kayakfishing, that's also the reason I'm here with you, I use to go on www.pecheaubar.com, "forum et chat"-"forum de discussion"-"peche aux leurres", you will find there a topic "peche en kayak", all is in french (my name there is Dom35) I have started to read "Kayakfishing The Revolution" by Ken Daubert, I think in France we are at the beginning of the revolution! for Terry: if you come to France, take care you have to paddle on the right side!
