  12. There is a lad on another forum doing a BSc in Marine Biology and Oceanography at Southampton Uni. The Link above is something I think he produced for that course.
  13. Just be careful with plagerism. I know you are all joking but I fell foul recently of someones wrath so just be careful how closely you plagerise. Having said that my Plagerism was to - Shall we say "BORROW" a picture of my local tackle shop from another site. We had the same aim - promoting the tackle shop but the guy wasnt happy and threatened me with a £400 fine.
  14. Just out of interest Elton, did you delete a link of mine from Nesa ? all the mods insist it wasnt them and say the only other person could have been you. I just was trying to get to the bottom of why it had gone so that I didnt make the same mistake again ? Sorry to be a pain. I would pm but on mod control I dont think I can.
  15. Full Information at www.whitbyseaanglers.co.uk The club would like to thank all sponsors and everyone who helped them in season 2005/06. The club are looking for small donations for Junior Prizes for next season - Please contact Glenn Kilpatricjk at whitbyseaanglers@ntlworld.com . Special Thanks go to all the team at Anglersnet for letting us use your website to promote our club. Many thanks go to Newt of Anglersnet for writing the match statistics calculator - It has been a great help. End of season Roundup 2005/06 Flat calm seas and milder weather prevailed for the Whitby Sea Anglers final club match for season 2005/2006. Expectations of good catches were certainly not high and this was reflected in the result with only 1 angler returning to the scales with a fish. Brian Harland continued his late season good run and took first place in the nights match with a rockling of 10 ounces. Brian's late season run came a little too late to give him chance of catching long term league leader Rob Allison, Brian came in a close second overall which is a great achievment in itself.. Rob after a year away from the club returned and took the title of Whitby Sea Anglers league winner for 2005/6. All the club members congratulate Rob on his achievement. A full summary of all this seasons league positions and competition winners can be found on the clubs Positions page and in the club records section listed under season 2005/2006. 16. At times I have placed links to other websites in the commercial and non commercial website promotion areas. Quite a few infact. I have never given it a second thought and always assumed this was ok. Im just checking really that it is as Ive just learnt that some other forum owners are sick of people putting on links without asking. I never gave such things a second thought before now. Is it rude to link out of forums to other sites ?
  17. After a recent run in over copyright issues with a north east site owner I had a think about what could be done to stop anyone else having the same problems. I have started a website for north east anglers to upload their fishing pics of marks etc to. The site is free from copyright and anyone wanting to then use the photo's and information for any purposes such as website development can then do so. The site will also be a good way for anglers to learn about north east fishing marks. It should be of value to anyone living inland and not able to view potential fishing marks at the coast. The gallery in question has kindly been set up and hosted free of charge by Nick of hebredes hosting and can be found at: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/lisa.broadley...te/pictures.htm

  19. Hi Nigel. I guess I should use up some of "all that spare time" so I thought I would reply to your question. Something worth posting on but I wont be making a habbit of it. I hope the commercial fishermen will be sticking to their side of the bargain and those who are commercials and anglers should only reply to the commercial question right ? Or wrong ? Are fish stocks in decline around the UK coast ? A simple answer is yes. How do I, a simple man from Whitby who has rarely set foot aboard a commercial boat for fishing purposes, know this ? Well there are several reasons I believe that fish stocks are in decline: 1. My own experience. I have fished the coastline around these parts since being a small child out with my father on the west pier at Whitby. I have kept extensive and detailed diaries of my catches and the catches of others on my area of coastline for as many years as I care to remember. It is evident that the number of fish hitting the shores is significantly less than it was only 10 years ago. The decline in numbers hitting the shore over a longer period appears even more significant. Having surfed the internet and it's angling related sites and forums, and having read various national angling magazines I have drawn the conclusion that my experience is similar to that of a large number of sea anglers across the country. I understand that those new to the sport wont have a clue what the hell I am talking about but as I disclosed to you the other day I believe that is simply because they have nothing to compare - Although i'm sure some will wish to put me right on that. So Ive said so far that I believe there are less fish coming ashore. I dont think any comparitve research has been done on this matter and Im not sure if the right types of data would exist for anyone to do such a comparison across times. So I have no hard proof it's only my experience - and that of many thousands of others of course. Admittedly what I am saying is probably not the case for all fish but I know of few that are booming right now. With regard to the reasons behind less fish hitting the shore. There are lots of theories on this floating about and probably there may be an element of truth behind some of them. Someone mentioned the other day the cleaning up of sewerage has killing off the populations of food. I struggle to find my own personnal evidence of that. I will give an example but will not name the place for fear of 10 million worm diggers arriving. I dig my worm very near a sewer pipe end, the output of which was cleaned up over five years ago. There is as many lug worms on that beach as their has ever been if not more and the populations of small white rags is growing yearly. I also fish this same ground regulally. Catches of 20-30 cod a night in the 80's were not unknown even on a calm night, catches of 10-15 cod on nights was known many times through the 90's, here we are in 2006 and I havent managed more than 5 on any night this side of the milenium. The worms are still there but the fish arent. As for the amount of crab around the sewer pipes and on our scars ? I see no difference there. Well, I tell a lie - there is more velvet crabs than you can shake a stick at. Do the cod not eat velvets ? . I guess what Im trying to say is that the lack of food explanation does not hold true to me. I see as much food on our shore as I ever did - The sand is full of shrimps, prawns and razors and everything that has always existed, and what people forget is these worm beds etc do not just stop dead at the shoreline. THe only foodsource I can see that is missing is the sandeal. I guess as a marine biologist you will be putting me right on a few things there but untill someone can show me hard and conclusive evidence that the fish arent coming ashore beacause of lack of food rather than lack of actual fish too come ashore I will stick to my belief that that theory is just one dreampt up by commercial fishermen to take the heat of themselves as the main reason for fish not coming too our shore. A smoke screen I like to call it. 2. Because the scientists say so. You dont have to look far to find research that says the majority of fish in our waters are in decline. Have a browse around the net, read the links Leon posts, visit ICES website and take a look at what they are saying. The scientists are saying the fish are dissapearing stating many reasons including overfishing and global warming. I am always sceptical about the global warming theory - again I suspect it's another smokescreen - Its printed that often in the fishing news that it has to be - or at least thats my belief. No doubt global warming is playing its part but I am not convinced on how big that part is. I understand it was Ben Bradshawe himself in the fishing news who called any scientist following that belief a " Maverick", well actually it was a handfull of mavericks - with the handfull relating to the number who actually followed it. I also wonder just how good the science is behind the theory of global warming being the main reason for decline in fish numbers. It certainly doesnt come from scientist's as respected by their peers as those at ICES. Perhaps Nigel could help me with that query?. But then again they once said the world was flat so I guess the future may show us the truth with the global warming theorists. One thing I am certain of is that it could take many hundreds of years to reverse global warming if it is possible at all. We can stop over fishing our seas tomorrow if we wish. Well Im not sure how to close this off but perhaps I could conclude that from my own experince and from reading research outcomes I believe that our sea fishing is well and truely knackered with the main reason being that our fishermen have shafted us whilst our past governemnts and those of Europe have stood by and watched and quite possibly at times applauded too. Sorry for any grammer or spelling mistakes, I would normally post up then edit but as im under mod control I cant be bothered to wait.
  20. Hi I was wondering if the information held within other peoples posts on this forum is copyrighted ? I would like to use a few quotes but dont want to break the law ? What is the situation please.

The domain name of www.yalasa.co.uk will remain the same and allow you to continue accessing the site. Please keep reading our website as the future for YALASA looks rather interesting to say the least.
  22. After last years nail biting finish between Niel Ingliss and Dennis Thompson who finished the 6 month season only 2 pound apart, this year again looks like it may go to the wire with any of the top 5 still capable of taking the title. However it looks like the head to head over the last 2 matches may well be between the inform Brian Harland and long term leader Rob Allison with the two now being only 8 pounds apart and Brian finding his usual late season form. The league as it stands today with the top 8 positions claim the clubs trophies: Rob Allison 200 15 Bri Harland 192 15 William Atkinson 189 14 Glenn Kilpatrick 186 9 Dennis Thompson 178 0 Paul Kilpatrick 120 12 Dave Perett 99 14 Col Stainthorpe 86 5 Georg Middlemass 83 3 Mike Vasey 75 4 James Gilpin 74 6 Phil Mead 61 10 A Kelly 59 11 Andrew Cass 55 12 Paddy Hoy 50 11 Bernardo Vasey 49 3 Jason Ebbison 42 13 D Hanson jnr 32 15 Mal Pitman 24 6 Dan Mcarthy 23 14 Dave Smith jnr 22 11 Paul Dryden 22 1 Dave Waters jnr 20 11 Mark Robinson 14 5 Dan Craig jnr 12 13 Niel Ingliss 11 10 Ian Russel 11 3 Dan Smith jnr 10 5 Graham Shepherd jnr 7 2 John Morrison 3 9 Dyran Sullivan 0 13 Paul Short 0 10 WED 22nd MARCH 2006 Anglers fished this small flood to high water tide with a nice north to north easterly swell in the water. Again results were rather poor with only 3 anglers returning to the scales with fish. Dave Perret had an excellent night and managed 3 fish for 7 pounds 7 ounces. Brian Harland continued his recent good run finding 2 codlings for 5 pounds 2 ounces. Brian's catch takes him into second place in the league and within 8 pounds of current leader Rob Allison. With only 2 matches of the season now remaining it looks like we are in for another thrilling finale. Results: 1st D Perret 7-7(3), 2nd B Harland 5-2(2), 3rd G Kilpatrick 2-7(1) SUN 19th MARCH 2006 Anglers fished this high tide match with a light northerly swell in the water. Catches were very poor with only 2 anglers weighing in. Man of the moment Brian Harland found 2 codling for 4 pounds 5 ounces. Glenn Kilpatrick came in second with 2 whitings for 1 pounds 4 ounces. Results: 1st B Harland 5-2(2), 2nd G Kilpatrick 1-4(2) WED 15th MARCH 2006 A moderate north easterly swell and coloured water provided good conditions for Whitby sea anglers in their midweek match. Paul Kilpatrick had another excellent night finding 4 codlings on his last 4 casts of the night giving him a winning weight of 9 pounds 1 ounces. Results: 1st P Kilpatrick 9-1(4), 2nd C Stonethorpe 7-8(1), 3rd D Hansen jnr 6-12(2), B Harland 5-9(2), W Atkinson 2-0(1), J Gilpin 1-15(1), D Perret 1-12(1), R Allison 1-7(1) SUN 12th MARCH 2006 What seemed like the coldest night for many years met the Whitby sea anglers for their Sunday night match. William Atkinson continued his good form and landed 2 fish for 9 pounds 15 ounces which took him into second place in the league hot on the heals of the current leader Rob Allison. Results : 1st W Atkinson 9-15(2), 2nd B Vasey 6-1(1), 3rd M Vasey 3-1(1), B Harland 2-7(1) WED 8th MARCH 2006 The sea had fallen almost flat calm for Wednesday nights match. The results were the worst for many years with only 4 whitings being returned to the scales. Results : 1st Glenn Kilpatrick 0-11(1), 2nd equal Brian Harland and William Atkinson 0-9(1), Dave Waters jnr 0-8(1).
