  1. A cold but enjoyable evenings uptiding off Whitby. A slight swell made it a bit rock and roll but we all managed not to be ill. I managed 3 but boat owner Ben managed 10 in a couple of hours with 3 or 4 fish around the 6 pound mark. Yes I had my ass kicked but I was more than pleased to see that there is a good amount of fish actually there for those who can manage to catch them. Roll on the uptiding festival in a couple of weeks time. The fish have now moved in so there should be some good catches come festival week. A few snaps from tonight.
  2. I dont need to tell you anything about our site Barry as I know you read it daily. If ever I make a comment on there, you quickly post it on here as if you have made some major news release. I Think you also confuse our site with the charter skippers site Barry. The private boat owners target a diversity of different species and they do it well : We dont need to big the site up as the lads catching the fish do the talking. http://www.whitbyseaanglers.co.uk/boat-fis...lack-report.php http://www.whitbyseaanglers.co.uk/forum/in...hp?topic=1241.0 http://www.whitbyseaanglers.co.uk/forum/in...p?topic=11678.0 http://www.whitbyseaanglers.co.uk/north-ea...g-on-shytorque/ http://www.whitbyseaanglers.co.uk/north-ea...hing-at-whitby/ http://www.whitbyseaanglers.co.uk/forum/in...p?topic=11009.0 http://www.whitbyseaanglers.co.uk/forum/in...p?topic=11762.0
  3. Put them under an old carpet for an hour and they will all come out. Best used over softer ground or mixed ground with a lot of sand.
  4. Your right as well, I dont allow sillyness on my forum, you 2 muppets would have been booted out years ago.
  5. Thing Is, we arent on my forum. If you find my post offensive then its Elton or Newt you need to talk to. I still think you have a slate missing. You make these very Random comments that to me just do not make any sense and are completely irrelevent to the topic being discussed. Please tell me if I have missed something crucial but what the hell has Blackburn Rovers and Pompey got to do with anythiong. As for you Barry, your greatly skilled at stirring it, you just love. As Ive said to you before, you spend too much time in here flinging crap about and not enough time doing something constructive with your hobbie.
  6. I do like to present a big bait from time to time and had been using the 6/o Mustad P{ower Worm hooks in the past. The only problem being the gape wasnt that wide on them. I recently decided on trying the Varivas big mouths in 8/o size. They arrived earlier this week and I was like a kid at Christmas unwrapping them. Dont get me wrong, they arent a bad hook but I was a little dissapointed. For an 8/o hook it wasnt a whole lot bigger than my 5/o Razer claws. I gave them a blast at Goldsborough the other night and they can handle a big bait but Im looking for something a bit bigger still. Any suggestions ??
  7. If you think about it, if you wanted to hide something would you do it whilst you were being watched or would you just wait untill there wasnt another boat in sight. If you observe the tactics of the UK trawler fleet, stunts like these are usually staged for one reason or another. Its hard to think of what they are upto but its likely another idea thought up by the NFFO to help them bargain with the authorities.
  8. I really wish I knew where you are coming from. Did you take a lot of hard drugs in your younger years ?
  9. Its highly likely they want it on show mate. The video was probably shot for a purpose

  11. So maybe its a good idea to set up permanant conservation zones Paul, where no-one can go ??
  12. Hi Paul, I think you may have misunderstood me. You are calling Clem Clive. But I think Clem is Howard not Clive mate ??
  13. Thats because you wear cod goggles. Instead of laughing at people who fish out of kayaks , you should observe their results. You may learn a thing or 2 as there are many species right under your nose that you just dont know how to target. Your never too old to learn you know and it would better your portofolio as a knowledgable charter skipper.

    Bait

You dont need anyhting special to keep it alive for a couple of days. Wrap in clean newspaper and put it in the fridge. Check them daily, take out dead ones and rewrap.
  16. Its related to what I said above. Many anglers do not understand that the catching of fish is dependent on so many more variables than just turning up at any beach on any tide and expecting to catch a fish.
  17. You raise something there Steve that I think a large number of shore anglers sooooo do not understand. Many anglers think that if they pay a licence, support MCZ, record their catches and fish to a quota there will be more fish for them to catch. Sadly its just not true. But lets run with the hypotheses that there are more fish. Will these anglers catch them ??? NO THEY WONT, or at least they wont catch them in the numbers they think they will. Which leads to the question of why they wont catch them. The simple answer without being too negative is because they are crap anglers. Through the gadoid outburst you had crap anglers and as the angling public has increased so have the amount of anglers who just do not undertsand that it takes effort to catch fish. There are many anglers out there who are keen to learn and will one day get more fish, but for everyone of those there are 2 who will always fish the wrong marks, on the wrong tides with bait that really should come with a public health warning. I do not want to be overly negative about these people because they have every right to go out and fish and probably enjoy the great outdoors and the break from the wife just as much as the rest of us - except they dont catch a right lot. Some anglers catch because they understand the situation, some catch because they have a lucky gene and some are going nowhere fast. Its my belief that 10% of the anglers catch 90% of the fish. No licence, MCZ, Magnificant 7, MP from landlocked city, RSA Strategy, Marine Bill, SFC, Or Leon Roskilly will ever change that fact.
  18. I agree with some things and his pointing of the finger at commercial fishing is good. Its about time someone actually took on the NFFO who currentyl play the tune to DEFRA's dance. However He seems to think he has the backing of sea anglers in all he does ?? Where has he got this idea from. No Doubt bloody Roskilly again. As highlighted above he needs to make it clear that we havent done the damage and we shouldnt be part of putting it right as our removal or restriction will never put things right. The buck stops firmly at the door of the NFFO. This needs stopping.
  19. Can anyone give some clarity to article 47. Will Charter Skippers have to record catches of cod ? Will boat anglers have to record catches of cod will kayak anglers have to rcord catches of cod will shore anglers have to record catches of cod. If so when will it start and how will it be done ? What happens if you misrecord or refuse to take part ?
  20. me and paul had a debate on the marinr Bill last week. Paul was on the verge of blowing a fuse. We decided to conclude it ( The Marine Bill) was a load of Crap
  21. Peter, what happened to the mackerel this year ? Anglers right around the coast have reported they never turned up. I landed about 10 all season and fished most days.
  22. Its not pub talk Peter, it came from the skippers facebook homepage. The quote about the second episode comes from a t-total Scarborough commercial who witnessed the event.
  23. Seems a good read for once. I didnt see much about sea angling in there. It would be nice to think we slipped off the radar screen and out of the firing line for a while to allow the powers that be to focus on the real issues effecting fish stocks.
  24. I think quite a lot has been missed from that press release. It is being mentioned that Boat anglers will now have to submit catch reports. I am unsure if there is any truth to this ?
