found a dead crayfish today in the kennet well into the town (reading) is that bad can someone tell me more about these things only its the first i have seen this far ?

nout wrong with spam i catch big barble and eels on it and i take the left overs to work the next day for my lunch dont buy the cheap rubbish buy spam £1.29 tin and if you chop it small and i mean small what a great bottom bait /ground bait it is and i have lots of doubles (barble that is on it )

no probs BUDGIE it works for me but i am only pulling out 3 to 4lb eels and not that often i tend to lose most of mine in the weeds but saying that i have used wire but found i had a lot less takes also if i use fresh fish i tend to hook jack pike and very small ones at that nice to hear from you talk more soon martyn

i would cut the head off a dead bleak leave it out in the sun for about 2 hours wait till dark and fish with it ie single hook size 2or 4 long shank using a baiting needle on some dackron or some kind off carp line (rig) it works for me one other thing take the barb of the hook

well i can say that the rivers that i used to fish 10 years ago no longer come up to the fishing i got then even the river down my garden does not fish like it used to and i mean fish their was a time when i could say i am just going down the garden to catch a double not anymore i have to read the river now before i know that the so called big fish are there and they are just takes more time i blame pollution and new buildings sorry to winge but its so true

thanks for the replies just to let you know the next door neighboor got a knock on the door at 8.30 pm by 2 river police saying that he left his rod and line in the water on its own they also asked have you got a rod licince and no he has not i know the bloke and he only fishies the back garden i have heard of checks but never in all the years i have lived hear has anybody asked me just goes to show make sure you dont leave your rod or rods unattendant (the spelling is not to good sorry ) mad max ps they also said he will be getting a fine

rats can be a problem and very hard to get rid of due to the wildlife ie dont put down poison that just upsets the balance people say to me you got rats down your garden i just smile and say their are water voils dumb runts anyway if people stopped leving rubbish on the bank we would have a lot less rats (just a new member speaking his mind )

just to say hello i only fish for barble /and eels and the chub come by mistake i am lucky to have over 20 doubles barble that is all on the river kennet it does help having the river at the end of my garden (sorry for the spelling ) like to hear from more barble fishermen
