Colin, thank you for posting those "anon" comments on the original article.

It helps keep things in perspective.

 

Nobody wants to be complacent and there are major problems around the whole UK coast, but it does not help the conservation cause when inaccurate information is published.

 

Davy, the "quote" in your post, was not a quote made by me.

 

I thought all fishing was "wonderful". :)

I too have to say that I am a little bit puzzled at the content of the report??

I have fished Clew bay, with Mary and several of the other skippers and should have been going back at the end of the month to "Defend" the title our team has won for the last two years in clew bay. I am talking about the International festival held there every year about this time. The skate are not exactly plentiful that much is true. But the other species are. What with Doggies in all the shades and sizes, Huss, eels, gurnard, Pollack, Mackerel, Tope, Thornbacks, Whiting, Scad, Dabs, Flounders....... Need I go on?? and all these species caught over a period of 3 days!! Last year!! Something very serious must have happened since I last went!! I'd better tell the 100+anglers who are about to decend on Westport not to bother and save there money eh??

It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing by people who can't fish.

If GOD had NOT meant us to go fishing, WHY did he give us arms then??

(If you can't help out someone in need then don't bother my old Dad always said! My grandma put it a LITTLE more, well different! It's like peeing yourself in a black pair of pants she said! It gives you a LOVELY warm feeling but no-one really notices!))
