Tope, tope and more tope

We lost count of the fish we had, a hell of day, all the fish were 25-30Lb range with the exception of one my oppo had. It took him nearly twenty minutes to get it alongside and nearly crippled him as he hasn't a buttpad, daft sod had foul hooked in the front of the pelvic fin close to the body, how I laughed.

Made a good tale tonight in the pub tho'

We fish up the nor'west coast at Jurby Head

had a good day today also off derbyhaven, had a tope of nearly fifty lb on baited mackerel feathers!!! what a carry on getting that in, just tailed her as the trace finally gave way. no other runs but what fish we have had there are big females, all the schoolies are on your side of the island! ha ha!!

also had a bass of 7,1/2lb, the other night right in front of you when you were in the boat, slapped it's arse and put it back, pity more of our locals didn't do the same.

Well done guys - I had one tope earlier in the year from the shore, but didn't try during the last set of tides (when conditions were perfect for the first time this year, D'oh !!!).

 

Haven't had much success myself recently - am I the only one who goes through spells like that ???

 

As John will testify, walked for miles on Wednesday plugging for the spikey fellas without any success at all - thanks for the trip though John, no doubt it was full of them on Thurdsay/Friday when I didn't go. :mad:

 

Spent this weekend 'on the rocks' - nothing special to report, but at least I had a bend in the rod. Not for the first time, poorly placed lobster pots made life difficult spinning close in for calig
