To be fair to the staff in these places, you have to admit that with the constant updating/new models/umpteen different formats etc the world of the PC is a nightmare. I had quite a long chat with the chief Techie guy in the Canterbury store of PC world. He tried to explain the advantages/disadvantages of different graphic cards. We ended up in the car park after the store closed, and he was still prepared to try and help.

I must admit to being sceptical about almost any advice or review these days....according to many "experts" my graphics card is no use for anything video related, yet I manage to edit HD video with it.

"When through the woods and forest glades I wanderAnd hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees; When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur,And hear the brook, and feel the breeze;and see the waves crash on the shore,Then sings my soul..................

Den, If you are getting good service from any shop and your happy with it then stick to it. The guy you found is an exception to the rule. You are right to be sceptical of reviews. I am sceptical period., but they at least give an idea if what your getting for your money. I am always sceptical of magazines that always give positive reviews. One source of quite impartial advice is a website called Tom's Hardware Guide. This site was started by a German GP who as a sort of hobby started of reviewing just motherboards, way back in 1998 or so. Now it is one of the biggest independent reviewers on the web. A pinch of salt is still needed, but it is an excellent resource all the same.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.
Vaut mieux ne rien dire et passer pour un con que de parler et prouver que t'en est un!
