Arglle and Bute

Sorry about the spelling but does anyone go fly fishing in Arglye and Bute or been fishing here?

Six or seven weight, 9.5 feet or more will generally be fine, for trout anyway.

Hiya, I/we go to Loch Fad ( On the Isle of Bute) once a year( tho' not this last year) and I use a 9ft6in, Bob Church Reservoir rod, its mibbes a tad heavy at an 8 weight, but, on the boat I get on well with it, I also use a Cortland 7/8 weight for the bank, with a 7 weight line, and get on fine with it...

Both Ians or Norries outfits would be fine imo. I use a 10 foot 6/7 rating for river and fisheries. The size of the fish and the distance you want to cast would also have a bearing on what you choose. It is difficult to go wrong with a middle type of outfit as these that are metioned are.

Using worm "and things". Probably, in burns, not in the lochs, apart from Loch Awe. Check the day ticket rules.

 

Rainbows: Still waters for rainbows: Why would you want to? Anyway, using bait highly doubtful, check with the pond concerned.
