Rod tips - painting etc

What do you all use to make your rod tips visable in the dark?

I use tippex which paints on easily and can be taken off easily.

In the past I have found tape to fiddly or bulky and am not sure if paint will damage the resins in the blank.

A headlamp.

Actually, I use starlights most of the time.

Hi

just out of interest have any of you used Mighty Bright tape for your rods......have to say its fantastic stuff and very easy to apply plus its not at all bulky....might not be as sticky as some tapes but the brightness of it pays for that!

worth a look into if you haven't tried it.

Cheers Elton

I do have one of them little LED lights strapped on each rod and have a headlight on at all times.

The leds are ok if you get big knocks that are unmissable to the eye (and there's nothibng there when you pick up the rod)

I just like to be able to see the the tip more clearly as I have had a lot of small codling that have only registered as a tremor on the tip this winter.

I use it on my beachcasters. Amazing stuff - just a bit of light on it and it glows like a lightsabre!

I use 3M tape as I find it much more reflective than anything else. The key thing though is to apply it down to the 3rd or preferrably 4th intermediate ring from the tip, so 3-4 sections of the blank are covered, or at least wrapped with a spiral. This gives a much clearer image of what is happening and relaxes your eyes as you look at the rod. Granted, it's been all cod fishing lately and there's not much you can miss about a "OH CRAP THERE GOES MY ROD" bite, but for the more subtle fishing it's a big benefit.
