When we upgraded the forum software for Anglers' Net a few years ago, many of the links from the old forum were broken. Part of my 'job' for early 2009 is to fix these, which I have done so for this thread. I haven't checked the destinations, I've just made them 'clickable' to the address that they used to go to, so please PM me if you find any that have moved, giving as much detail as possible. Some of the links may have been 'unclickable', if it was impossible to work out what they should have been.

The only way I can spot relevant threads is a report in the server logs that somebody has recently tried to click a broken link. For that reason, I'm tagging this post onto each thread that is affected, as it may be that the member who clicked it will want to try again.

I'm hoping that the threads may be of interest to other members, though, and some old discussions may continue.

I fish it regularly, few Pike sessions between october and march, and a couple of days for Trout in the warmer months. It is a nice fishery, the staff are very helpful, they even help me get my boat in the water (you can take your own of hire one of theirs for the day). I would fish it more often, but it's too expensive for me.

Their website http://www.hawksheadtrout.com/will tell you lots, and sign up for the weekly newsletter (e mail), so you will get up to date information, and give you an idea of what patterns are catching.

It is a mixed fishery, in that there are both game and course fish present, it is becoming increasingly know as a big Pike water (current fishery record 39.5Lbs), there are is an 'any method area' as well as a larger fly only part.

This is their latest report

TROUT FISHING

The trout fishing continues to be very good for the time of year and the mixed bag of weather we have been experiencing lately! Once again the ticket office frontage down to the car park has been the winter hotspot, as well as weather bay in the north basin! Favoured tactics for the trout fishing at this time of year have been the sinking line approach, especially from an anchored boat. Best fly patterns have included boobies, minkies, cats whiskers and floating fry! Worm and spin anglers have also been catching on a regular basis, however it is important to fish deep which ever method is employed!

Best catches include Rory Mcguire from Surrey who fished a sinking line and booby combo’ from the boats to record 3 Rainbows to 3lb+ from the boats.

John Higgins from Manchester fished cats whiskers on a sinking line from the car park banking to take 4 cracking Rainbows to 5lb 2oz.

Meanwhile Peter Johnson from Darlington float fished worm and landed 6 Rainbows to 3lb 8oz from the boats at the ticket office hotspot.

PIKE FISHING

Local rod Phil Hawkins from Kendal had a session to remember last week employing deadbaits and lures to latch into some superb pike. Phil fished from the boats to take a cracker of 24lb 8oz and back up fish of 20lb , 18lb and 16lb respectively!

John Jarvis from Preston also had a super days predator fishing taking fish of 21lb, 22lb and 10lb, again from the boats. All Johns fish fell to static deadbaits.

John Stephenson from Keswick fished replicants from the boats to take a 12 pounder and another of 18lb.

Matt Mclean from nearby Ulverston took a trio of snappers from the boats on a combination of lures and deadbaits, including fish of 10lb, 17lb and 18lb respectively.

Big s club member Steve Hincks from Blackpool landed an 18lb 2oz pike from the boats on static deads!

Best Regards
