Hi

me and my mate are going fishing at taverham mill at the end of the month and i just wondered if it is getting a bit late in the year for big carp.

I dont fancy spending three days on the bank and not catching a great deal.

thanks in advance

its never to late to catch carp (frozen lakes permitting) as for sitting for 3 days and not catching much :D that can be done at the best fisheries in the best weather easily ,its what carping is :D

As mentioned this time of year should be the best. In theory the fish should be feeding up prior to the winter slow down. Generally carp activity slows down around end Oct, once the water starts cooling down a fair bit. That said the carp will feed all winter which is why a lot of people fish all year, but catches get much rarer in the real winter months.

The above is a big generalisation as different waters vary, some switch off early others later. Factors such as depth, location etc all make it difficult to predict what will actually happen.
