A Lovely Pair

Recommended Posts

of rods is what im after, however do i go for 2 t/c the same, or one heavier than the other? i imagine two differing test curves would give me more flexibility, but do i need a 3lb tc carp rod?

i fish mainly for carp up to 20lb (although ive yet to hit that mark) and rarely fish over 50m. i will be using them for d/baiting for pike over the winter.

So do i go for 2 at 2.5tc or 1 at 2.5 and 1 at 3?

has anyone else been in this dillema?

I've recently sold my 2 Chub Powerweave carp rods (both 2 and 3/4 t/c). I've moved over to a specialist rod as I wanted an allrounder. I opted for a Greys Prodigy Specimen rod that has a 1.5 t/c top section and a 2 t/c top section. They market this rod as an allrounder as well which can cope with all species of fish up to 20lb or so. I know i'm limiting the size of fish with this rod (soon to be 2 perhaps) but I feel much more comfortable with it as it gives me so many options. Some carpers who use it reckon they can get a good distance with them still but it requires 1 oz leads and lighter line (around 10lb line)

Chris I have had the same dilema.

I dont normally fish at any great range but do use PVA bags and method feeders.

As I already have an avon type rod and an olf daiwa carp rod with a t/c of 1.75 I opted for a pair of 2.75lb Fox warriors.

They are overgunned for some of the work I use them for but perfect for the majority.

Cheers all,

i think im going to go with rudds suggestion, 2 Warriors (or Warrior XT, or TFG intruders, or TFG Signatures - God why do they make so many rods in the same price bracket?)

2.75tc i think will cover me for most stuff.

cheers again.

Chris, I've read a few horror stories with TFG rods over at TFG's forum. I do know however that the Warriors are tough and great value rods, i've owned 1, my brother owns 2 and a load of his friends have them.

my dad purchased 2 warriors on monday afternoon and is very pleased with them, as for the tc we fish similarly to that you described, carp upto 20 and short ish range fishing and find you need nothing more than 2.5lb t.c.

The old type warriors are going for approx 40 quid.

The new warrior XT for 50 quid.

Dont have a clue about what the differance is, probably slight change of colour or graphics for the new 2005 model!!!!!!!!!!!
