Yup - with a braid and especially a nice, slick one, you do for sure want to leave the spool slightly underfilled.

 

Otherwise, you will just have to cut off the last portion of the line due to wind knots and general bad behavior.

I use braid mainline all the time as I dont taget a specific species and float fish but catch alot of carp so mono was getting snapped far too often.

 

The striking method used differs slightly and is hard to get used to at first and I was cursing the stuff after missing a million or so bites but I swear by it now. Just wish the line was easier to sink.
