halibut pellets

do halibut pellets(or any other pellets for that matter) dry out and lose their flavour and oilyness if you leave them open to air?

IMHO i would say no they don't but i have no idea to be honest. i have caught on 2 year old, open bagged pellets, without any problems, but i would use older pellets in large quantities, as i dont know the effects, but i shouldnt think it is too bad

I have been using the same bags of 21mm dynamite halibut pellets and nash b2 pellets for about two years.

I have just finished with a three year old bag of trout pellets and still have about 30kg of 4mm and 8mm strekker coarse fish pellets which are a year old.

 

They are all fine.

Mine are all stored in plastic bags then storage boxes.

so i take it your pellets havent dried out then.

thats good to know because i always like to use fresh baits.

pellets dont dry out buddy, because they dont contiain water untill you add it, they are filled with oils, hence why they expand in water and leave an oily slick

They will lose their active ingredients after a period of time but i'm not sure how long.
