mono line

I changed to X line a few months ago and am very pleased with it so far, expensive (for spooling 6 spools) but so far well worth it. :)

I have just changed all my line and have gone back to 12lb Sensor, which I believe breaks at about 15lb anyway. I can't see how a brand of line can possibly be prone to twisting, but I had to do something as it was getting ridiculous. The line I stripped off one spool had only recently been but on after I had gone to the extremes of walking the whole length of new line out, so that it was reeled onto the spool unfettered. It was twisted to hell, all the way back to the knot.

I put the Sensor on by chucking the bulk spool into the water and winding it on while the spool was revolving. I don't believe in the method of taking it off sideways, as I think the reel and line spools would have to be exactly the same diameter for it to prevent twist. Anyway, I have fished a complete session with it and there is now no sign of twist at all. It all seems illogical to me, so I will see how things progress.

Steve ref braid and sunken pat rigs I find it excellent for this! Origonal post,I very rarely use mono these days but if on a water where braid is banned I use Maxima Chamelion same as I had done for many years prior to braid.Must admit used the cheap Daiwa Sensor a couple of times and found it ok.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

I can't help thinking that if they charged £15 for a spool of Sensor instead of about £6.99, everyone would be saying it was the ultimate mono.

I don't want to encourage them to put the price up though :)

I think you two may be right!I thought it was a perfectly ok line but if I had to go out and buy some mono I would still be seduced into putting my hand deeper in my pocket for the Maxima! Oh no after all the years of slagging the tackle tarts it apears that I am one too!

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

Cheers, Budgie. :) It looks as though I'll be trying Power Pro for piking this winter. Double thanks to Newt for sending me some!
