Baiting at long range

Newt

This angler is using a sling and balls of bait since he is baiting up over 100 yards from where he is standing. I haven't seen anyone mention using a sling when you need to reach further than a spod will travel but they certainly do work.

Seen it done Newt, wasn't accurate enough for me, but certainly gets the bait out there...I would say about 120yds with stiff balls!!

carping_mad - if you ever get over to fish the St. Lawrence river (US or Canada side), you may need to do some distance baiting. I would too if I ever got up that far north.

I prefer the Cobra baiting stick on the end of a good 6ft fibreglass landing net handle for groundbait. I can get tennis-ball sized groundbait (Vitalin) out to 100 yards with ease. Makes a bit of a keeeerrr-splosssshhh though!
