The mullet have returned I thought I would have a go at catching them. The grey mullet has a soft upper lip and all the people that i have talked to say that a size 10 hook is the best to use on a light rig any info would help

thanks

Decided enough was enough and that I really had to get out and do some fishing .. dusted down the Mullet Gear from the last time I used it -- late August last year me thinks ..... went down to Littlehampton .. saw a few nice fish early on just before low water ... rest of the day was rather quiet until around 12.30pm ... when I managed to hook and land a nice 21" thicklip that came in at 4lb-10oz .. so one pleased Bunny here .. nice way to start the session even if I do say so my self ... :D

ps.. and I was .. float fishing with a 2 swann stick float using a size 10 hook about 16" under with bread flake

Hya,

As already said the soft lip is a myth, I've been using size 8 boilie hooks and 6lb mono right through and have been getting fish every session out of the Clyde. I had my new PB yesterday with a fish of 5lb 3oz and Linda had one midweek that was pushing 6lb.

Hiya Phil,

Gratz Davy on the PB ......

much better than those nasty old skate :D

Don't know about being much better, it's certainly easy fishing... fall out my house, grab some bread and within 5 min I'm fishing .. I can even see one of my swims from the kitchen window so Linda can watch me fishing . :) :)

 And the added bonus is that mullet make great skate bait, oily but tough.

Hiya,

went out for a couple of hours again tonight to what is fast becoming my fave mullet mark.

I decide to try a new tactic and within 10 min I had my first fish.. a nice clean fish of 4lb 3oz

I followed it up half an hour later with another of 3lb 2oz and then called it a night.. this Mulleting lark is getting bloody adictive :)

... yup can be, never felt that way myself - honest >> cough cough :D :D :D :D

Have to say I wish I could go fishing almost out of the backdoor of my house rather than having to drive 60 to 90 miles to get to the little blighters, although I'm sure they are very pleased about that arrangement

Just out of interest Davy I saw the float gear behind Linda - so are you fishing next to a breadbag or just throwing out the groundbait?

Phil
