Did you see that unused Meccano no 10 set that turned up on Antiques Roadshow last night? Worth £1,000+!

My favourite toy was a bolt-action spring-loaded "Jungle Hunter" rifle that fired small plastic balls the size of a Malteser. Great fun until one landed in the paraffin room heater and melted....

I have still got (at my mum's house in Newcastle), my old Hornby Double O three rail electric train set; in its original boxes complete with oiler sets and original packing, including the tissue paper.

I imagine it must be worth a few bob, not that I would ever part with it.

Nothing remains of my child hood fishing gear however.

After a certain age, if you don't wake up aching in every joint, you are probably dead.

Mercifully, nothing remains of mine, either - talk about toys! My Grandad bought me one of those "Bells Junior Angling Sets" that used to be stocked by newsagents and toyshops - the rod looked like a 2-piece TV aerial with a plastic handle and built-in "reel". The line was suspiciously like sewing thread and the hooks were about a size 6 and barbless (so-called "safety" hooks).

Thought I was in heaven when I progressed to a 5' solid fibreglass rod and a little "winch" with nylon line and proper hooks! Cardboard box (in a Yorkshire accent)???

:D

I had around 200ft of Scalectrix track and dozens of cars, including the Mark I Escort Mexico! My mother proudly informed me when I went to get it from her loft a couple of years ago that she had given it to the grandson of her neighbour. Not spoken to her since.

Like many on here, air rifles took their toll on my toys. Had a lot of airfix model planes once, until I aquired a Webley Vulcan .22. If I had been around in 1940 the Luftwaffe wouldn't have got anywhere near London!

Anyone remember those Lone Star replica Luger cap guns you could get? I was told they had to stop selling them as they were too realistic and were being used in "armed" robberies (probably be cheaper and easier to get hold of a real gun these days).
