Ah ha, we are talking fishing at last!

Likewise I have EON's, both Pro & Standard. Both, with a 10lb braid, on the right rod, will cast a 5gm lure a respectable distance. The Gatorback, multi version, is cheap & cheerful but surprisingly good. Just wish those blessed Yanks would rate their rods in gms for comparison! I also have an ABU baitcaster 3/16th oz jobby that I prefer. The Gatorback is a good little caster but lacks any real spine if I hit a pike.

As for perch, umm, yes, great, but the likes of Steve Burke recommend bigger lures, maybe they are right. Me, I just enjoy catching 'em on squirty stuff.

I have something in the AN articles section re U/L, I think!

Mines a 'Pro' Peter, and it spins like a politician! (Sorry. :D ) I think the problem I have with casting UL lures with this reel might be attributed to my peculiar action when casting a multiplier. I've always cast over my shoulder, I just don't feel comfortable with a directly overhead style. I think because I have to exaggerate the casting action, to mobilise the tiny lures, I tend to end up throwing the lure way to the left of my intended target.

I'll have a read of those articles. :)

You need a good wrist action, but controlled! Me, I go for a sideward swipe rather than the classic US back and forward over the shoulder jobby. Problem is I'm self taught! No one showed me how to it proper loike!

With the Pro I'd suggest you activate about 30% of the mag control with u/l lures.

I also use ultra-light lures for perch, and great fun they are as well! I have had big perch on them too, and they have at times totally outfished big lures. However, I've had more specimen stripies on bigger lures - even up to 5" long.

Not a perch (black sea bass) but I think most preds have similar habits so this might indicate that a fish will try for a larger lure than you might first think.
