Gorleston

With our Rhyl boat trip called off we decided to head East. 3am start with a 3 hour journey in front of us.

We headed to Lowstoft hoping the beach at Pakefield would be favourable for a spot of scratching. Our first stop was at the Woodbine Cafe, a full English, then we went onto Lowstoft Pier. The sea was boiling but the southerly wind was warm on the face. Looking down the coast Pakefield beach looked unfishable, so we headed to Sam Cooks to see what bait was on offer. Closed and another half hour before opening we decided not to wait but to head North up the A12.

Arriving at Gorleston Pier, Gorleston-on-Sea Pier, oppostite Great Yarmouth we decided to give it a go. So off to the local wet fish shop for some Calmari, untill the Bait shop opened.

We pitched ourselves back of the wooded fence, riverside, given us shellter from the scrawly southern wind. Ideal for any sun tan, but would it give us fish from the river side, as the sea side was unfishable.

9am was our first cast into the river, maybe some sort of fish would come to our baited end rigs. Many a good bass have been caught from this point maybe we could land one.

The sun passed over our heads, faces and brows gatting reder. Many a word from Day Strippers, have you caught owt, no no and again no. Not a nibble, not a nod from our rods, not nowt. 4pm and what looked like rain clouds coming over from the west were fastley approaching us. Time to clear up and reload the car.

Timing fantastic, as we had just sat in the car, the heavens opened. Turning the key we set off for home, not before we had Fish n Chips from the local Chippy.

We did enjoy our trip to the coast, no fish, but that's fantastic we had done what we didn't think we could achive, A Golden Blanking Fishing Trip.

We may even make the British Blanking Team for the 2012 Olympics. B)

Cheers 4 Now

Nice write-up - and a most successful day. You intended to go seafishing, and that's exactly what you did :)

We even get days like that here, though more often they are hot sunny days so we can ease our sorrow by watching girls in bikinis, having a swim and enjoying a couple of ice cold beers! :D
