i've never caught on the doppelganger stuff.

all the reasons stefan gives are why i use the rubber stuff, you dont have to chuck half a can away at the end of a session, i'm still using the first bit i tried, so for a couple of quid, me and my fishing mates have got everlasting sweetcorn, cant see a problem with that myself!

what is the point of this stuff for 30 pence a can you can buy the real stuff and no one on this planet is going to tell me a small piece yellow plastic is better than the real thing no way! and so you have to throw half a can away so what! whats that about 10 pence worth!!a couple of quid for half a dozen grains of plastic or thirty pence for a can of the real stuff. i suppose if maver or shakespear bring out rubber meat next week you will all be putting lumps of plastic on your hair rigs as well!!!!!!!! oh dear!

Been down to my 'private lake' this evening trying to tempt the larger Rudd from amongst the hordes of smaller stuff. Two grains of artificial Sweetcorn popped up about 2-3 feet (in 8-10 feet of water) sorts them out, well those up to 12 oz or so any way. The real biggies still evade me. I was sceptical initially but it really does work, the two grains I used have been kicking about in the tackle box for a few weeks but it would appear to make no difference whatever.

P.S. The real stuff is great for catching small Rudd, if you don't mind the pain of rebaiting every cast, I reckon if it was used in a match it could double the weight of your catch, all other things being equal, by virtue of the time saved. I have used four grains of real corn on a size 10 hook and a two ounce rudd can swallow the lot. Hair rigged artificial nearly always gets you lip hooked fish no matter what the size.

Just cut and paste it....It does indeed appear that people are using fake luncheon meat... and bloodworm, bread, tigernut.... dog biscuits!!!!

I think that the artificial bread is the best. it looks just like the real thing but you buy it in great lumps so you can cut it down to whatever size you need. only it doesnt come flavored so you need to do that yourself.

will the ducks like it!!! :D

Also artificial hemp, especially in the guise of beads or shot has been about for even longer!

I would think that in all fairness the effectiveness of these artificial baits really depends on the situation. For example if I had fish "boiling" whilst loose feeding with maggots I would (allthough must admit to not actually having done it)be very confident of catching on an artificial maggot.I would not be that keen to fish one on the hook just cast out though.Do you get what I mean?

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!
