Turkey and the EU

Newt:

Your position as a group of islands not attached to the European mainland makes it possible but 'possible' and 'good idea' don't always match up.

Absolutely spot on....

Britain's historical markets - 'the Colonies' have allied themselves to the Asia-Pacific ring, and there is no benefit to them using a supplier with a high cost base.

As for the USA and Canada, where's the incentive for them to take up the slack left by any departure from the EU?

Africa and the Far East? Africa can't afford it, and the far East can do it cheaper.

Like it or not, Britain's largest market is within the EU.
