GUINNESS STOUT

After the Great Britain Beer Festival, in London, all the brewery presidents decided to go out for a beer.

The guy from Corona sits down and says, "Hey Senor, I would like the world's best beer, a Corona."

The bartender dusts off a bottle from the shelf and gives it to him.

The guy from Budweiser says, "I'd like the best beer in the world, give me 'The King Of Beers', a Budweiser."

The bartender gives him one.

The guy from Coors says, "I'd like the only beer made with Rocky Mountain spring water, give me a Coors."

He gets it.

The guy from Guinness sits down and says, "Give me a Coke."

The bartender is a little taken aback, but gives him what he ordered.

The other brewery presidents look over at him and ask "Why aren't you drinking a Guinness?" and the Guinness president replies, "Well, I figured if you guys aren't drinking beer, neither would I."

Double Maxim eeugh, best news ever when Vaux closed down, apart from the Mackems getting relegated.

Best beer in the Noth East at the moment; Workie Ticket from the Mordue Brewery.

Never could stand Broon either mind I was always an Exhibition drinker.

Ian

I mentioned the best beer in the North East at the moment. Best beer in England at the moment? easy, Goachers Gold Star from Maidstone, far enough south for you?

P.S. The Ramsgate Brewery's Seasider also warrants a mention in despatches

aaaah! Goachers. A lovely drop - I also like Goacher's Mild. Really nutty and moreish.

I also like Harvey's and Flagstaff's Capstan was OK when I could get it.

This is a signature, there are many signatures like it but this one is mine

Ian FG:

I'd just like to mention southern beer for a change, I'm talking about Wadworths 6X, Fullers London Pride, err.....and probably lots of others.

Both of these *used* to be good beers, (as did Young's Special), but most breweries can't seem to resist tinkering with the recipes (usually substituting cheaper ingredients), rendering them bland and uninteresting in the process.

Harvey's Sussex Bitter is one of the few beers that still tastes as it did 30 years ago (I'd be thinking it was my tastebuds going, otherwise).

The latest Good Beer Guide lists the biggest number of microbreweries (often the best source of good beer these days) ever, thanks to the government's tax breaks for small brewers (thank God they've done *something* worthwhile). :D
