Gay Bashing

Den, I tend to regard people according to how they treat me and others, rather than what they might do.

I think it generates a degree of tolerance and goodwill msising in people of a certain generation in Liverpool. All the racial issues tend to come from the era of those bought up in the 1930's. A lot of the general trouble arises from the youngsters who have had no proper role model, but fortuantely they appear not to have picked up the abuse of homosexuals and those of a different ethnicity.

Occasionally, the elders can learn from the younger generation. Apart from which, Den, wat you described nowadays would be seen as paedophilia, and the only sympathisers would be paedophiles themselves.

Indeed, and I'm sure that we had a debate around this issue 12 months ago. I think that the whole thread ended in deletion. It seems that despite the production of evidence to show that gay people proportionately are less likely to aduse children than other members of society, that nasty little prejudices still fester like unhealed sores. As you point out there is sometimes learning to be had from young people, however sad to say ignorance sometimes shows itself there too. Perhaps as a result of the poison fed them by their elders? Perhaps too our young people are in less danger from gays than they are from fearful bigots?

Say what you like Emma, but it is a FACT that there were a lot of dirty old (some not so old) men (?) around when i was in my youth. They did abuse kids, they turned up where kids fished, and they flashed themselves, and tried to touch up kids as young as 6 years old. Not hearsay, but seen with my own eyes.

The continual campaign by some of them to "lower the age of cosent" says everything any normal person needs to know about their true motives.................................they want to bugger young boys.

I'm inclined to agree whole-heartedly with this. I cringe whenever I see Scouse born-and-bred lambast the immigrants for what they get out of the system.

Their comments are usually based upon pig-ignorance.

Who? what campaign? show me.

The heterosexual age of consent was lowered to 16 way before gay young people were afforded the same liberty. Following your 'logic' the 'straight' age must have been lowered first so that dirty old men could legally penitrate girls?

I have no basis to disbelieve your own reported childhood experiences, indeed it seems they were very real, having tainted and deeply embittered you.

I think overtly camp people can be annoying, just the same as any other people who effect mannerisms that are deliberately intended to draw attention to themselves (perhaps I'm being a little unfair there). As far as I'm concerned, if somebody is gay it is entirely their own business, although I would hope they would be able to appreciate that being in social situations with their partners could easily make many people uncomfortable. It might not be fair, but that's the way it is. Under normal circumstances it shouldn't really bother anybody too much.

What I think is really creepy is when certain people seem to think they have to display an extreme reaction to such people. You have to wonder if they are really trying to hide something by over compensating.
