Can anyone recommend a rod?

Hi i'm looking to buy a new carp rod. Can anyone recommend one capable of landing 20lb+ fish for £100 but maybe a bit more? . I don't mind too much about casting range, the maximum i go is about 30yds

Any carp rod in that price bracket should be capable of landing a 20 lb'er. It's been a few years since I've looked at what's on the market but a visit to a decent tackle shop will give you an idea.

 

One piece of advice is shop around - you might find a £200 rod that's been reduced to your price range!

i am not a specimen carp angler but would suggest you have a look at the cheaper diawa rods i picked one up on half your budget and have had carp and sturgeon over 20lb and used it for light beach casting and had no problems

Why spend £100 on a rod that isn't required for huge distances?

Pretty much any carp rod will land fish of more than 60lb never mind 20 and £40 will buy you a perfectly servicable tool.

My own carp rod (I only have one that was sold as a carp rod) cost me £20 in a sale and at 13' is an ideal tool for trotting deadbaits on the Severn. It's light, it's robust, I can hold it all day and I have absolutely no doubt of it's ability to land a 30ib'er if I hook one.

Bourney, 20lbs isn't really a worry bracket. I've used 15 quid carp rods for whacking out 4oz leads with 1lb mackerel and landing 20lb pike no sweat. Any half decent carp rod these days should be more than capable of banking 20s all day, especially at the range you're talking about. Worry about something else.

 

....and I think I worry about nothing....
